He's seeing shots that no other player sees or even attempts. Even with these glorious players Bata Reyes is a cut above. Every endeavor has a performer that is the benchmark. The thing is consistancy. I'm no world champ by any means, but on my best day I could make alot of these shots. With english pockets I might add. edit: not jump shots tho. Most pubs, clubs and house rules where I live ban them so people don't tear the felt. So I've never had much chance to practice them.

in old billiards rule esp in the Philippines, if the main ball jump it's foul, they should bring it back that rule, so you can see more creative shot. unlike today they just jump the ball as easy as that.

I was born in 1949 and by 2024 I have seen moon landing, colored television, laptop, internet, electron microscope, Hubble, JW telescope and many others, but what amazed me is Efren's pool shots and this is what I will remember when I die. There is one more thing that I must mention, Nusrat' divine voice, admits all the greatest singers of France, Germany, Spain, Portugal (Brazil), USA and Japan, that he is by far the best singer of all time.

These video shows some amazing shots. In 1962 I saw a demonstration of trick shots by Willie Moscony. I have never seen such cue ball control since. He simplified the game of pool so that he was always in position for his next shot. I heard that he once ran 512 consecutive shots.

I would love to see a match between Willie and Efram in a game of straight pool to 150. Imo, that would be a great test to see who is really the best. With players at that elite level, one bad break usually decides the outcome in 8 or 9 ball games. Not so in a multi-rack games. Position and strategy are even more important and cue ball control is crucial.

I like Angry Maniacs comment that Bata Reyes was so good people called it a fluke. They couldn't grasp the concept that he was that much better than everyone else. It would be difficult to be an Hall of Fame level player and then acknowledge that one man was the greatest to ever do it. That was Efren Reyes! A player with 20,000 fluke shots in his unmatched career.

Just to note, at 3:48 you have this attributed to Mika Immonen but I am pretty sure this is Chris Mellings shot. In fact all 3 of his clips, the ones at 3:17, 3:32, and 3:48 are all from the same frame. One of most insane run outs I have seen in 8 ball. Well worth watching the full game.

Eliminating some repeats in the list (at 7:47, 13:31, 14:57 and 15:28; those are the only ones I caught) and Earl Strickland’s trick shot at the beginning (0:10), I counted 59 shots from Efren Reyes (54.6%) and 49 shots (45.4%) from others (mostly from Strickland). Efren Reyes is the GOAT!!! 🐐

I like your video. Great compilation. Chris Melling stood out to me (and Bata and Earl,...), but I found the constant music underscore annoying after a while and had to watch muted. It's fine to hear the same tune repeated but after a while, no matter what it is, the relentless repetition starts to feel like torture. Maybe just turn it down or off every now and then.
