Thank you for putting this out there, acts like yours threaten to redeem youtube and the internet etc haha. I'm so grateful. It feels miraculous to hear these shining moments - they hit so intensely despite the vast span of time. His lucidity seems sharpened by the crescendo'ing tension - so fucking urgent and decisive, but essentially placid (ie: "No." @ 39:34). Thanks also for including these incredible portraits and this transcription, too. What a soul Baldwin was, and what luck that these microphones were around to catch the outlines of these crucial moments. It hurts that his frustration amplifies the message, that I can understand him better when he's driven to simplify it. It also hurts that his diagnoses remain both pertinent and resourceful in 2024. But there really are no better diagnoses than his. 🇺🇸
