I'd argue that the 2003 NIU team is the best (in at least the past 40 years) to not get a bowl invite. 10-2, 4-0 non-con with wins at Alabama and home vs. Maryland (attended this game, was absolutely wild) & Iowa St. Ranked as high as #12 after starting 7-0 before 2 later season losses took them out of the conference race. I'll listen to other contenders, but this is hard to beat.

UCLA’s best game was played in 2006, the Year of the Dog. UCLA are 6-0-1 against USC in football in the Year of the Dog. UCLA started in 1928 and did not play USC in their first Year of the Dog season in 1934. UCLA won in 1946, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, and 2018, and the tie was in 1958. I’m hoping that they continue the trend in 2030, 2042, 2054, and beyond.

It's a tough call between that and Houston considering the UH win was actually against a good team, but that 07 ND game meant so much to so many people in the Navy fanbase. As a Tennessee fan, needless to say the 2001 victory over UF is still the biggest victory in which it had National Championship implications, but not have been the same since. You could also add the victory against #3 UGA in Samford Stadium 19-14 in 2004. So those are the only meaningful victories, that we had no chance in the 2000-2019. How can you omit the greatest game ever played at The Swamp? 1997, Florida vs Florida State. FSU came in the number 1 team in the country, primed to go to the National Championship game, and Florida, already eliminated from the SEC Championship . Florida, a serious underdog beat FSU in the final 5 minutes on last second heroics by Jacques Green and Fred Taylor, 32-29. Omitting this game is unconscionable
