If I had a wife and a kid who loved me, I wouldn't want to kill myself and leave my wife as a depressed widow and my son as a depressed fatherless child. He loved Nancy and Daniel, and considered how life would be without them. This obviously doesn't make what he did okay, because it was still terrible. But it is relieving to know there was a reason behind the seemingly cold blooded murder. He should be in the hall of fame for his inring skill and ability to put on classic after classic.
