super late but if you are still on the fence about learning it well it kinda sux. the syntax is a pain and clunkyit was designed in the 60s so there will be verrry lil overlap with any other languages you may care to learn. that said lots of large companies use it and have millions of dollars in codebase written in SAS so its apparently a must for them. if you are just wanting to learn programming use python/R. R if ur wanting to get in to stats python becausepython is found everywhere apparently :)
