Only use water on silver... it will likely ruin anything else... use a soft toothbrush or a non-sharp toothpick... AquaChigger has a great video on cleaning coins...

Nice. Why not wait till home and clean instead of rubbing coin and just insert that footage at find? The tokens did not seen to clean up to well.

Well I mean they need to find out what it is before cleaning it up because it might be a fragile detailed coin or token so they need to clean it up now then when they get home they'll clean it up

Recently I got permission to hunt a lot in downtown Fernandina Beach, Fl whose history goes back to the 1600s. A house and restaurant had been on this lot and I harvested a pistol, knife, horseshoe, union and Confederate Minie and musket balls, 4 axe heads including a broad axe. And wheat, Indian Heads ( as old as 1864 my first fatty), Barber dimes and quarters and seated dimes and 2 half dimes. Thought I was through but then they tore out about 50 feet of sidewalk. Got another Minie ball but then a 1718 Reale!!! My oldest coin.

In our little midwestern town when they took out the broken concrete sidewalks underneath were cobblestones. They were restored. A year later they also exposed the cobblestone streets and granite curbs. These too were restored. The change is amazing and roadway speeds have dropped considerably. Charming again in Ohio.

A shovel ! As I started with used detector to save money and test sincerity of interest. Thus I'd suggest the same. Then I sold the used too upgrade. Make and model depends on searching medium, colonial, fields, beach, lawns? I'd look on Ebay for used minelab Equinox 600, although I just looked and saw none. Best of luck for detector and detecting.
