Awesome stuff. That gave me an idea that I'd like to try. How about grabbing the signal to the IR diode. It would be fairly straight forward to write some arduino code which would translate all the key codes to RF signals. That way we could convert any standard IR remote into a full blown IR/RF remote (given it has enough space for the Arduino).

To anyone wondering what the diodes on the switches are for, they form an OR-Gate to pull down the single interrupt pin whenever one or more switches are pressed. Without the diodes, you'd just short all the switches together.

The diodes were added to provide a single output from all of the switches without affecting their original purpose of providing 3 separate outputs. So now there are 4 outputs from 3 switches, one of which is when any switch is pressed.

Extremely useful! I've had this idea before and now I know how to do it! One more thing I've been thinking of is how to control multiple strings of leds. You can use any remote so it's as easy as programming multiple inputs to one output like a different t.v. remote and buttons, for more than one room. So like this video says you can just code the remote outputs. Say there's a few rooms, so the "AUX on" code (master remote for tv, dvd, aux, and cable) with the kitchen t.v. turns on the kitchen lights only, however not the living room lights. The living room t.v. remote only turns on the living room lights, however the "TV on" code for the living room remote will turn on the kitchen lights (TV on for living room does not affect kitchen t.v.). My question is how would you control the different room leds? I was thinking a couple or multiple RF receivers and one power source. If it was just a big circle of leds and they had a way to turn on or off certain sections. So the kitchen receiver could control all the rooms lighting from one remote and the controller would power the entire string of leds, and at the same time, each individual remote can control each individual room of leds.

People with higher IQ tends to accomplish a task in a more complex way. But that doesn't mean its the best choice. I rather could have done this by using nano as real time logic analyzer by connecting to IR-LED and sending the resulting byte code over NRF thus in this way all buttons will be functional and you dont have to damage IR side also the remote controller so we could have both available always. Thanks for the effort keep up the good work mate.

@tonymasse3887
@tonymasse3887 7 жыл бұрын
Also, I'm confused about the 47uF, as the official Doc from Nordic invites to use a 4.7uF: "Mounting a large surface mount capacitor (for example, 4.7µF ceramic) in parallel with the smaller value capacitors is recommended." I personally had initially put a 1F (5v) which I had at hand for my tests, as if you put none it just doesn't work. So I'll try with a 47uF (in 5v) next.

+GreatScott Thats a good idea. I believe old analog oscilloscopes used the voltage source to control where the electron beam goes on the CRT so it would be super interesting to see that being done over the composite video interface, if that's possible.
@superdau
@superdau 7 жыл бұрын
The CRT in a TV works differently than one in an oscilloscope. In a TV the electron beam is deflected by a magnetic field, in an oscilloscope by an electric field. Sure you can also move the dot around on a TV, but the trace won't be anything like the real signal, because the beam in a TV can't be deflected fast enough (or more correctly won't follow the input signal linearily). For the time it takes to build anything around a CRT (ignoring the fact that playing around with stuff that's running on up to 25kV is rather stupid), you might as well use a raspi and build a digital oscilloscope.
