With the end of Summer, saw the end of through expresses from London and the North on the Newquay line in Cornwall. However GWR are gradually phasing out their HST 125's and replacing them with the new Class 800 and 802's over the course of the next year. It inevitably meant that the Newquay line (aka the Atlantic Coast Line) would see the very last scheduled GWR High Speed Train service running from and to London Paddington.
Starting off at St Blazey near Par, the HST with power cars numbered 43098 and 43154 are running nearly an hour late due to overrun engineering works on the GWML earlier in the day. Next the train now on it's very final working on the line, is seen near Quintrell Downs with Newquay in the background. Finally seen departing Par en route to Paddington passing the classic semaphore signalling infrastructures, like the HSTs they too are on borrowed time and will eventually disappear.
