'Beat Karelin's best move.' By getting so fat even Karelin couldn't reach around him, genius!
@davejones83065 жыл бұрын
@James Byrd i see your point. the clinch from a stationary position can give a particular wrestler an advantage. Jordan Burroughs beat kyle dake several times, primarily due to his speed and agility. however, i feel like if they were to be placed in the clinch position, dake would win 9 times out of 10.
@bastionblackperformance38045 жыл бұрын
@James Byrd it was definitely being fat that saved Rulon, well and a clinch rule change. Karelin had him loaded and nearly lifted but was unable to lock his hands. Which is a big deal for a guy whose freakiest attribute was his massive wingspan. Then to prove his elite athlete athlete status after 'besting' the greatest, Rulon decided to gain 150lbs and embarrass himself and wrestlers in general on the biggest loser...
@DedicatedSpartan5 жыл бұрын
@James Byrd No offense against Rulon but he didn't really do much, Karelin still dominated the match, and Rulon scored no points against Karelin, Karelin was deducted 1 point only because the rules were changed. So Karelin really beat himself.

And the puck used in 1980 was programmed by the imperialist country. Can we at least give credit where it’s due? But.... if we must be the little country that finally humbled you, so be it. Our citizens would love your citizens and vice-versa. It will never be about the citizens.

@williamprice26775 жыл бұрын
Karlin stated it was to be his last match... Why: because Alexander at last knew his time would not last forever. Rulon was very good. "The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but time and chance happens to us all" Congrats Rulon you got lucky...

@Letrano Then you haven't competed much. Even Loma lost twice, once as an amature and once as a professional. His opponents were lucky in both cases.

If you genuinely think that it was a fair match you are delusional. Karelin was given 2 prior matches that same day and Gardner had none. The score was 1-0 only because of a BS rule change because Karelin changed his grip. Never before has such a ludicrous rule existed in wrestling, only to have been removed after the match.
