6 in the morning is the PERFECT TIME to be in Oia ! Go to the castle, you'll have a 360 view and you will be all alone !!

Thank you, Sebastian. We are travelling in Oct and will be on one of those cruises. We are docking at 2p. Do you have information about the water taxis from Thira to Oia? We've heard the trams lines can become impossible. We are travelling with kids who are not interested in the sunset so thought we would get up there first then head down to Fira then head back to the ship by about 6pm. Does anyone have any tips for that?

I will avoid Santorini for sure. What a money grab. Garbage everywhere and roads like in a 3rd world country. Where do all the money go? Fira and Oia are interesting but as a whole the island is very underdeveloped.

Sebastian, all of your videos are gold! I'm travelling to Santorini in late May (25th to 28th), and I've already checked that there are going to be around 4 to 5 cruises arriving at 8am each day. Do you think I can beat the crowds if I get at Oia around 9am?

I would try to make it by 8:30. You can expect that by 9:30 it will start getting very crowded.

Check the specific timings of the cruise ships on the days you're there. Some cruise leave mid afternoon, some in the evening. And that will have a big impact on the crowds in Oia for sunset.
