What I find kind of funny is how dragon age: veilguard is going to be the type of combat similar to what greedfall used to be, with greedfall going to da:o influences. If the story is going to be as good as the first one, if not better, this will be a great game.

Ummm, yeah, no Greedfall excelled with the combat system it had. The fencing type and heavy combat was great, and they should bring it back even better. Spiders is fu*king the puppy with this new idea of combat. Greedfall, with some tweaking, could have been a masterpiece, but I enjoyed the game immensely regardless, of its flaws and I would have never touched it if it had interactive gameboard tabletop combat. Spiders will lose many fans over this idea. Now, if they want to do this they should give a choice between people like me who want real-time combat and this new idea for the combat that they have a choice between the two combat systems is a better idea all the way around and will garner a lot more fans. I was extremely excited for this game because I absolutely love Greedfall, but if they implement this new combat system without also putting in a choice for real-time combat, I won't touch this game. Spiders has never made a better game than Greedfall in all aspects. Greedfall reminded me very much of the movie Brotherhood of the Wolf, which is a movie I love and for which I had wanted to see a game for for so long. I have played many colonial style games, and Greedfall was the only one that ever gave me that type of feeling, like I said before, with some tweaking. Greedfall could have been a Masterpiece it wasn't perfect by any means and was far too restrictive for the player. Improvements needed to be made, starting with a big, open world and no more restrictive hubs. But Spiders was on the right track when they made Greedfall.

I could tell playing the first one that this is exactly what they were leading to. I'm not surprised by this at all and this style will allow for much better story telling and role playing, the two things that made the first one good.

For real, Spider's iconic combat system has been evolving with every subsequent game (Bound by Flame - Tehnomancer - Greedfall), and switching to this generic combat is a big fail. I wasn't going to get it anyway. Never seen a good game from early access.

@@AVM26 I'm fairly certain baldur's gate 3 completely messes up your stance of "never seen a good game from early access". EA helps them crush the bugs, as well as giving the community a great idea of what the game is going to be about.

I still keep Dragon Age Origins in my collection but I definitely don't want this game to try to simulate that. I don't think any game is going to pass Origins with the style it went with as well as its chemistry between the characters. It's definitely odd to see this.

This combat system, including its animations looks exactly like Neverwinter Nights (and this game dates back to early 2000's...) The hitboxes are terrible. I appreciate getting control of the team members, it is a great idea, but the combat seems to be outdated for me.

I think people would be less upset with the combat if they just called it Greed Fall: The Dying World. As opposed to ‘2’. Spinoff vibes like Divinity Original Sin vs Divinity.

Missed the release, but I'm happy that I did so. Seeing the combat system I would have stopped during the first fight. Finished GF1 many times (on computer and Co sole). I enjoyed each run because of the unique combat. The new combat system is a no go.

no lie combat is really trash...and a big turn off..i liked combat in 1st game..i guess they got lazy and completely ruined it, so now ill pass plus one of the things that made greedfall fun was combat..now it looks like an indi game ill pass

@@jessemockler616 yeah im sick of everything having to be action based soulds like. We get 20 AAA action games a year minimum we get a turned based game once in a while

@fightingddog im playing the first one now, and the feeling I get is that this was the intention all along. It feels like they ran out of time or money and shifted it to action combat. I think this new gameplay style is going to make for much better storytelling and role playing. Indeed, those are what make this first one so compelling. I'm about halfway through right now.

I have tried multiple times to play GF1 but the janky controls and wonky battle system just kills it for me and I can’t get more than a few hours in… does it get better or at least good enuf to overlook its flaws?

Idk I beat the game and it was OK. Playing as a caster class had the best flow in my opinion
