Small FAQ for people wondering what's going on. *So you are rolling and dashing a lot… how? Is it faster than running?* This game has animation cancelling. A roll can be cancelled by guarding and guarding can be cancelled by rolling. By combining those animations, you can go faster than simply running. The same can be done with their magic counterparts, however you would need to mash in rhythm at an incredible speed, but you’d get crazy speed out of this. Chaining lightning dashes together is the easiest solution. It is faster than rolling w/ animation cancel which itself is faster than running. Here is a comparison in the run: (Running: 00:16:30) (Roll cancelling: 01:55:08) (Magic dash: 03:27:35) *What build are you using?* This route uses mainly Technician skills for dps but will also use Magic on two occasions. The Technician skill tree is the primary source of dps. It has a very good aoe and high damage against bosses. However, it requires lots of things to work. Ammunitions for your gun, major fury potions for spamming bombs but most importantly it needs a lot of skill points to unlock everything. The Magic skill tree has the best form of movement. Considering the amount of running there is in a 3 and a half hour run it comes very handy. Some bosses are more vulnerable to magic than others: The Nadaig Vedemen (swamp) takes increased damage whereas the Nadaig Frasamen (forest) is resistant. *What pistol/rifle are you using?* Any gun that has a 3 or 4 fire rate and good damage is your best option. If you can’t find one of those then the gun with the highest damage (and 1 or 2 fire rate) will do better than a gun with 6. The windup time for a rifle is longer but isn’t that impactful so both gun type are viable. I estimate gun dps like this: (damage*fire rate)/(fire rate+1). This isn’t an exact formula btw. *What route are you using? Sometimes it looks like you stop doing a quest to do another…* A summarized version of my route is in the description. The basic of it is that quests spanning on multiples maps can be broken into segments, each separated by a loading screen (The camp when you travel between areas). Sometimes, postponing a segment is better because you will enter the area by another side thus reducing walking distance. Or you delay the next part of a quest because you are not strong enough to do it now or because of a talent you don’t have yet. Or you do a section of a quest earlier because the only thing involved is walking. *Why are you swapping between party members?* Party members often like to talk. For example, during investigations their additional lines of dialogue, if they have any, add to the time you have to wait before examining another clue. Therefore, you can swap a member out if you know he will be talkative. *Why is the game in French!* There is no reason really. The devs are French, there are French inspirations in character names, I’m French… On a more serious note, I’m not sure if there is a fastest language for this game as the only voice acting language available is English and subtitles does not seem to make dialogues shorter.

Super Run ! l'optimisation de la route est assez ouf, j'ose pas imaginer le temps que l'optimisation à pu prendre, mais ça donne clairement envi de run le jeu !

En vérité ça a pris moins d'une semaine. J'ai pas mal comparé ma route avec celle du World Record précédent sur laquelle je me suis basé au début ; il y a des parties où je ne suis pas encore tout à fait convaincu que ma route est meilleure. Mon idée principale était de compléter certaines quêtes annexes (nécessaires plus tard) au début du jeu afin de gagner suffisamment d'expérience pour débloquer les bombes dès que possible ce qui rend tout les combats très rapides et assez triviaux. Pour ce faire j'ai privilégié Ullán à Derdre, même si la quête donné par Derdre est en théorie beaucoup plus rapide à compléter que celle d'Ullán. J'ai aussi ignoré les quêtes de Kurt parce que j'avais pas envie (mes notes disaient que faire Kurt et la bonne version du coup d'état était aussi long voire plus long que d'avoir la mauvaise version et devoir sauver une des villes. D'autant que tuer plus de soldats m'assurait d'obtenir beaucoup plus d'argent pour la suite). Mais après plusieurs reviews de ma run je pense qu'il est sans doute possible d'améliorer la route en faisant Kurt et Derdre. Il faut juste gagner suffisamment d'xp pour ne pas passer un trop mauvais moment lors du coup d'état. Ou bien trouver une bonne strat pour la mission. Bref, il y a encore de quoi optimiser, et c'est sans parler de l'optimisation des mouvements, des combats et de voir si certains skips sont possibles.

where did you get that legendary pistol "foudres du gouverneur"? cant find that part

This pistol is a consolation prize from Burhan the gouvenor of Hikmet if he refuses to lend some help in the final mission. I get it after speaking with him at 3:25:10. Altough this is the best pistol in the game you get it so late into the game it's only going to get used against a few bosses.

This is one of the not-so-great endings. Choosing Dunncas as the high king would have wielded the basis for the good ending and it doesn't take much more time. The speedrun gives the crown to Derdre only because it's slightly faster menuing wise and skips an extremely short fight. The perfect ending would require a bit too much sidequesting.

I was expecting the speedrunner to be better at the game, he takes a lot of damage that I wouldn't expect a speedrunner to take, so his build and route must be good.

True. The build is good... the runner a bit less. I spent barely a week making the route and doing runs so of course it is perfectible. But for once, it's nice to have a game were taking damage doesn't end a 4 hours run. It was good to know I didn't have to play every fight perfectly and could instead focus on other things like not screwing up the route.
