Gýrna Xaná (Come Back) is a Greek royalist song composed during the Greek Civil war between 1944 and 1947. It calls for the return of the exiled King George II to Greece, and promises that royalist troops will root out the Communist Party (KKE)

Yes he did! The monarchy was confirmed by plebiscite on 1st September 1946 and the King returned to Greece from his wartime exile on 27th September 1946. He died, suddenly and unexpectedly, on the 1st April 1947 and was succeeded by his brother, Paul.
