Very well said mate.....i was a huge necro fan for like 19 years....i even have a Necro tattoo.....but last year i actually sold my entire Necro collection...17 cds , 2 posters and a couple of flyer's......its extremely toxic music bro....i acted out so many violent acts due to Necro, because i was really young and really easily influenced and thought violence was cool....i was so valuable...i was even making home made pornos and sending the videos too necro over Facebook Messenger, because i thought he would think thats cool....i was so lost and really mislead and i acted out so many of his lyrics,,But in the last couple years I've met some really good Christian hip-hop/graffiti writers and ive learnt so much wisdom from them....and because of them i was able too stop listening to necro....im actually in the process of getting a tattooed lasered off now...and once that is off im getting the necro tattoo removed..... thanks for the video mate , you've really reached me in this one...keep doing what your doing and spreading wisdom and connection....much love ... Peace

This is a really interesting topic about the influence of music. It can be used to vent but it can also reinforce negative mental states

Well said brother. I grew up on horrorcore and made that kind of music when I was younger. I feel like it was product of abuse in my childhood and me trying to reassert my control and power by manipulating people into fearing me. Deep down I was just so afraid I put up this wall that I thought was keeping me safe, when all it was doing was putting me in more danger. It's the same with my dark sense of humor. It was my way of convincing myself I didn't care until I believe it and was numb to life. Every thought, word and action is being manifested so rapidly. I'm glad to be out of that haze now, sober with clarity. I really can empathize with people who are trapped in the dark place and by speaking out about it you can enter that darkness and be a guiding light. Keep shining g

I think it could assist forming technical bars , disregarding the subject matter. Cage is my favourite ever. Music has the ability to change your emotions, so brainwashing yourself with that type of subject matter isn't a productive investment. Especially if you're prone to mental illness. I have to listen to uplifting music to feel uplifted, and alot of cage's lyrics are inspiring and deep. Reggae and Ska are my go to for chemical bliss. Cheers.

Hey, Thaeks for your video and your thoughts, In today's society and for along time now will forever really😊 for a few of us, Humans in general I'm speaking, Find it hard to see what's real and what's not real, Horrorcore is a comical sense violinist people that can't comprehend that shouldn't dive into the art, I actually do horrorcore and find it exhilarating to write it but I also use other methods not just violence, So going back to the video respect a lot of your opinions 👍

Used to listen to horrorcore, used it as a sort of twisted therapy i guess, being undiagnosed autistic at the time and having lost my dad very suddenly, i went to a special school too, and yeah, i listened to it because at the time my mind was pretty broken at the time, and as i grew up i found myself wanting to stop violence more than instigate and glorify it which funnily enough coincided with me discovering Dunners and Greelz. For clarity, as i mentioned i wasnt diagnosed as autistic until i was 16 because no one had bothered to try get me help, and as a result i couldnt communicate what was going on in my mind cause i didnt understand it and it just led to me being angry with myself and everything around me 24/7 and i listened to horrorcore as a sort of outlet for the anger i was feeling. Apologies for the paragraph :/ Interesting topic greelz, genuinely enjoyed listening to you talk about it, wouldnt mind if these kinds of videos became regular

It’s like any kind of art form really. Death Metal, Horror films, Video Games, Stephen King novels, Violence, Dahmer series. etc. H.R Giger is an amazing artist.. but a lot of his works are dark as it gets! (Dildos made of still born babies etc) But the art is undeniably well executed. Louie CK was talking some real dark stuff when I saw him last. Things I don’t think he would do in real life. (I hope) We are naturally drawn to or intrigued by dark shit. Unfortunately I don’t think some people are right enough in the head to absorb the dissimilarity of expression and actually acting out what they see, hear or feel from another artists work. Enjoying these GreelTalks mate. Keep em coming.

Damn i havent heard Cage in a long time. Ballad of Worms, In Stoney Lodge, Among the Sleep, and Shoot Frank all got a lot of play in my ipod back in my teens. Just gave them another listen now. I think Cage qualifies as one of those artists that did benefit from writing his thoughts rather than acting them out. Dude was fucked up. It's interesting to think about how that music could affect others even if it is ultimately healthy/beneficial for the artist themself.

Used to write and listen to horrorcore quite avidly and I still love when I pump rhyme asylum and three 6 mafia but to say it doesn’t affect your mental or how you can go about life would be lying. I think if you’re gonna listen to it, you need to balance it out with positive messages as well just actually acknowledging that mentality is twisted and fucked. If you’re gonna express it, try at least do it with grace and recognise you’re putting out some intense energy, not necessarily bad but intense, cuz you can talk about negative situations/thoughts in a way that can be positive for you by getting it out of your head and maybe your audience cuz they won’t feel as alone and as stuck with their thoughts cuz I know horrorcore did that for me, just made feel less alone with some of the more hectic thoughts I had when I was an angry confused young man, but to rely on it and idolise it is silly.

Hey Greeley, horrorcore is metal/rap together. If going by stereotype street shit and devil worship, but let's be real we are much more then that. From watching a gory movie, playing gta, listening to strong language music. Its entertainment and the only risk is the persons mental health. The king of Hc in Au is KIDCRUSHER, someone I've been trying to get down to Tassie for a while . Would be sick if Greeley did a ft...

Hip Hop music is perhaps the most influential genre, with the personal nature and density of the lyric structure. You can say a lot of shit in that few minutes on a track. Rap historically has a high rate of young listeners tuning in. Rappers have a chance to speak to the youth every time they record a track, and they should keep one eye on this. I also appreciate the rights and freedom of artists to express themselves in the most satisfying way to them, making music is the artist's therapy first and foremost.... BUT it's also ignorant to assume what you say won't have a massive effect on someone. Good talk Greelz, that's some real shit

@GreelTalk definitely. diminished headspace and ingesting poison will turn the strongest into the most volatile. I know you stated in the video the fact it isn't exclusive to any specific genre. I suppose the most important thing is being aware of what you're susceptible to as an individual or community, dealing with that first.

What are your thoughts on Drill music greeley? I think it's much much worse than horrorcore. Horrorcore is openly theatrical and doesn't have any basis in reality. This new generation of drill rappers think you have to stab people to even rap and it's embarrassing.

Horrorcore is shit . When I was a kid we listened to Insane Poetry , even some of the Geto Boys stuff ,Bushwicks solo stuff it was all pretty dark . So by the time I met a metql bloke who read the lyrics of Cannibal Corpse to try to freak me out I was all " yaaawn .." that's not healthy . Don't get me started on violence & mysoginy being a toxic part of us all leaning into our music as our influence when were kids and dad's not around . It's toxic as . We started loving hip hop for Run DMC ,public Enemy and nek minit it's Ice T then NWA etc ,... Shit went downhill . Then we have to grow up an re educate ourselves
