The anaconda and the reticulated python are two of the largest and most powerful snakes in the world. These snakes are often compared and debated over which is the largest and strongest, making them fascinating subjects for KZbin videos.
The anaconda, also known as the green anaconda, is a non-venomous boa species found in South America. They are one of the heaviest snakes in the world, with females reaching an average length of 4.6 meters (15 feet) and weighing up to 250 kilograms (550 pounds). They are capable of swallowing prey whole, including large animals like deer and caimans.
The reticulated python, on the other hand, is found in Southeast Asia and is the longest snake in the world. They can grow up to 10 meters (33 feet) long and can weigh over 160 kilograms (350 pounds). They are also known for their powerful jaws and sharp teeth, which allow them to take down large prey like deer and wild boar.
In terms of strength, the anaconda is known for its powerful muscular body, which enables it to constrict and overpower prey. Meanwhile, the reticulated python is known for its massive size and strength, which allows it to overpower prey through brute force.

The Green Anaconda ( Eunectes murinus ) is the heaviest snake in the world, but the longest snake in the world is the Reticulated Python (Malayopython reticulatus). (Females averaging around 16 - 20 ft, and Males averaging 10 - 14 ft in length. The largest Reticulated Python ever recorded was around 30ft long.) These snakes belong to the family Pythonidae. Reticulated Pythons are native to Southeast Asia, and there have only been two reported cases of them eating humans. These snakes do not usually prey on people, and are best left alone. (Side note: Very few snakes are poisonous, and the word you were looking for is venomous. The difference between the two is: Poison: You die or get sick after touching or eating the animal/substance Venom: You die or get sick after being bitten or injected with the substance by the animal An example of a poisonous snake would be a garter snake (Thamnophis s. sirtalis) These snakes belong to the family Colubridae, and are known to eat a variety in their diet, some of which being various toads, newts, and salamanders, some of which are poisonous or have the ability to secrete toxins from their bodies. These snakes store these toxins in their bodies, making them slightly poisonous to eat. They are also rear fang venomous. While they do not have venom glands, they do have nubs of fangs in the back of their mouths. They use these to chew the venom into their prey. This “venom” is actually a form of advanced saliva, which contains some neurotoxins. This helps them kill their prey, but is considered harmless to humans (unless you are allergic) and is often compared to that of a bee sting. Common symptoms include: itchiness, discomfort, swelling; and minor dryness around the puncture wound wound. ) Hope this helps! ❤🐍

Same here, but for only about 29 years now. I absolutely love my retics and my burms, but if you want a change of pace, I HIGHLY recommend african rock pythons. Forget everything youve ever heard about them, its nonsense and they are amazing. Especially aince they wre all captive bred these days (at least in the USA they all are). They are EVEN smarter and more active than retics. I love my retics, my burms, and my afrock, but afrocks are something else entirely. Most amazing snake I've ever owned bar none. I didn't think ANYTHING could outshine retics, but these can! No one really gave them a chance because of the old reputation they had in the 90s, but if you like retics, then I promise you wont regret getting an african rock python. They are not any more reactive or aggressive/defensive than a retic is, BUT their striking range is positively bonkers. It defies all logic... its like a giant blood python. They HOP! They strike so far their whole body moves. The slack in their neck is just there to decieve you, its soooo hard to discern how far they will strike. Its soooo much further than youd think, to the point it seems impossible. I was warned about their striking distance many times, and it still made my jaw drop to the floor when i saw it in person. Its like 2-3 times as far as a retic of equal length. Its just silly far and silly fast. Luckily though, they quickly outgrow their "striking phase" just like baby burms do. They are just nervous babies and calm right down with some reassurance.

Things you need to factor in: the python that you showcased that you stated was the longest snake in the world was a Burmese, not a reticulated. Also, there has never been a recorded case of a reticulated python reaching 33 feet. It’s an estimated guess, but the record so far goes to Medusa, a reticulated python who lives in captivity and she was last measured at 25 feet.
@alexcrowder1673

Glad to see someone who knows their snakes! Unlike every other comment here, that's all totally correct. Medusa is also the heaviest verified snake ever to be weighed at 450lbs, followed closely by the late "Baby" the burmese python formerly owned by serpent safari at 403lbs. I actually had the pleasure of meeting both snakes in person! Both the reticulated python AND the burmese python exceed anaconda in weight. No anaconda has ever reached 400lbs, although 2 have been pretty well verified to have exceeded 300lbs. They are likely the 3rd heaviest snake in the world, BUT even then, python sebae could potentially give still them a run for their money for that 3rd place spot. No matter where they stand, whether they are the 3rd or 4th heaviest, Python Sebae is certainly my favorite of the large snakes. They are even smarter than retics. Its insane how observant they are. Youd think theyd be like burmese pythons, but they act nothing like them at all. They are smart and active and love climbing just like retics. They do love the water and hiss like burms though lol.

@@jordolfrichler5575 Well you are certainly more aggressive than the reticulated python. I had both..a reticulated and a Burmese for years. The Burmese was way easier to handle than the reticulated which was more predatory than the burmese. The only one one that was more aggressive than the retuculated was as far as I can remember the Rock python my father had when I was a boy. Anyhow... you seem to be very aggressive with your words. I wonder if you would dare to say it in my face you KZbin warrior lol.

The retic is the longest snake AND potentially the heaviest. All depends on their diets. Take 2 adults of each species, as the retic gains the length advantage over the anaconda, if she's also put on a caloric diet and starts packing on those pounds she should eventually surpass the anaconda in weight too at some point ahead. Most folks don't realize that the anaconda's famous "weight advantage" relates to animals of *equal length.*

I agree 100%. I also want to point out that "baby" the burmese python outweighed every anaconda in human history at 403lbs despite being only 18ft 10 inches long. Even by girth, the anaconda fails to live up to its reputation. To be fair, "baby" was absurdly overweight, and an equally overweight anaconda MIGHT be able to break 403lbs, but it's never happened. Honestly, it doesn't seem like a great idea to try to make an anaconda that overweight anyways. "Baby" was just waaaay too overweight IMO. I was actually lucky enough to meet both "Baby" the burm, and "Medusa" the retic in person many years ago, and many years apart. Medusa definitely holds her weight a LOT better than Baby ever did.
@humbertojimmy
@humbertojimmy Жыл бұрын
@@alexcrowder1673 Yes, retics (even obese) look better, thanks to all that length to stretch out those pounds on. I've kept all kinds of snakes, and burms have the fastest growth. I have a hypo female at the moment close to 17 feet at barely 6 years (very athletic). Anacondas, in fact, tend to have the slowest growth of all the giants. Go figure.

It’s clear that the anaconda is the more naturally massive per linear unit distance, while the relatively primitive pythons are not quite as highly evolved; The anaconda likewise possesses the highest squeeze strength of the constrictors.
