These teams met in Green Bay 30 years after staging what was for many years the highest-scoring Monday night game in NFL history. The date on which the game occurred, October 17, was a Thursday in 2013. The NFL expanded Thursday Night Football to be almost all season long in 2012. This game was ultimately not scheduled for that night, instead Washington played at Minnesota that night. The Packers were not on the TNF package at all in 2013, their Thursday game was a Thanksgiving game at the Lions, something which occurred frequently in the early 21st century, but not since then.
