This concert was a make-up for a canceled concert bc Billie Joe was in rehab. I was there, close up, left my phone at home & just enjoyed it soooo much. BJ is a little somber playing this song, it's about a friend of his that committed suicide. RIP.

Same thing for me (in a way) I drove 160 miles to Rochester NY to see them 3 days after my birthday. Got my bass signed by Mike too. The previous week was total crap (went into diabetic shock, was treated like crap, had a lot of bad things happen) but what got me through was going to that concert. I was so happy I cried too. They are amazing. I keep a copy of my ticket from the first concert I went to of theirs (Sept 21st 2005) and the ticket from Rochester in my wallet. Amazing band.

A really good friend of Billie's called Brando (i think) who commited suicide in either 2009 or 10. Billie said he died of the same problem she had and the same lifestyle he was living before he went to rehab. He explained the meaning in the interview he did about rehab with the Rolling Stone. You may have heard the story Billie tells in storytime about Brando and him in a bar.

Here's the thing guys you say where's all his energy and jumping and etc.This song is about a friend of billy and mike that committed suicide because he thought that the only escape from growing up is suicide because he tough growing up and the was and x-kid(all kids from 1970-1980) and took the early exit and that's was hard for billy and mike so the song is for him so sad i im a 90's kid but im like 80's kid ! Actually, I think "x-kid" means something like "ex kid", as in "ex child". You're technically an adult but you don't really feel like one. It could be described as the "Peter Pan Syndrome" I guess. I don't think it has to do with one's year of birth, you may be confusing it with the Generation X (people born from the '60s to the early '80s). Really emotional song though.

The triology was ok in my opinion there is about 10-12 songs including this one that were either really good or just good. I personally like the concept albums better like american idiot and 21st century breakdown because they tell a story. But then again so does this song which is why i like it cause it has emotion in it
