@@fowlae4414 Yeah, but the Beatles also have the generational advantage. Most grandparents, at least in my experience, are there to tell their kids and grandkids of the Beatles. Green Day can at most be passed down from parents. Both massive bands for different reasons and as such, cannot be compared.

Loved this! This record changed my life, too. Very similarly, I used to only listen to the radio or the "Now! That's What I Call Music" compilations, haha. But I heard "Boulevard" on the radio one day in 2004, and it caught my ear. My uncle let me borrow his copy of the album and my mind was blown. It inspired me to teach myself guitar and start writing my own material. I became instantly obsessed with them. Went out and got all of their other records. (I also went to Hot Topic and bought all of their merch, lol.) After about a year of listening to nothing but Green Day, they also inspired me to start looking for similar bands because I knew that the whole vibe and energy of that early 2000s "pop/punk/rock" genre was definitely what spoke to me. That's when I discovered Fall Out Boy one morning in '05, watching music videos on MTV in the morning before school. Panic! naturally followed in '05-'06 with Fever. And ever since then I haven't been able to "fall in love" with another band. They're my three. I have tattoos for all of them. But, Green Day will ALWAYS be number 1. (My Green Day tattoo is actually just a simple red star outlined in black, as a little tribute to this record and what it means to me) I just saw them at the House of Blues on Oct. 1st and ended up crying my eyes out during "Letterbomb" (my favorite) and "Jesus Of Suburbia." I kept telling myself "Enjoy this moment for 12-year-old You." ...and just lost it. So, yeah. This was awesome! And I think it's so funny how much I relate to your Green Day videos (as well as your FOB & Panic! stuff!)

This album is my favorite album of all time. The story is about being lost and I have definitely gone through those thoughts many, many times. However, the songs definitely stand on their own especially Wake me up when september ends. Every time I listen to that song, I start to tear up especially when I see it live. Music is definitely the best way to convey your feelings and thoughts to the world and Green Day proves it here.

Loved you review man. If you do a redemption review for The Black Parade, can you do the same thing you did here? Like a track by track review? That would be amazing. Two of my favourite albums reviewed by one of my favourite youtubers!

This is awesome. American Idiot is my favorite album of all time, and the album I grew up to. It's been there for me with tracks like Jesus of Suburbia and We Are the Waiting whenever I was in need of some assurance that I wasn't the only one feeling lost in the world, and it holds a really special place in my heart. Congratulations on 7 years by the way, I loved this video and a lot of your others as well :)

One of the first reviews that I 100% agree with. This album was pretty much my musical awakening, and one of my favorite albums of all time, definitely a strong 10,000,000/5.

this album introduced me to music. as a little 4 year old, wake me up when september ends was my favorite song. to this day it's still one of my favorites. this album means so fucking much to me and i can't thank green day enough for introducing me to music. as difficult as it is to choose, my favorite songs on this record are holiday, are we the waiting, jesus of suburbia (particularly dearly beloved), give me novocaine, she's a rebel, homecoming, and whatsername.

Just like you ARTV this was my first album that I listened to and American Idiot was the first song I listened to and when I saw my mom walk in to my room back when I was in highschool showing me she found American Idiot at a Goodwill I treasure that memory a lot not only because of the album but my mom actually taking the time to get something for my favorite band
