I am one of the freaks who just likes this song. I heard it *years* before I saw the video and it was an instant connection. That high pitched "not by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin" slays me every time. Great pick.

Their band name was Green Jello when they started. but they had to change it for obvious reasons. This is such a funny song. Right up the 1990's alley.

There's a KZbinr, Jeremy Reed (LA-OCtv) (Jeremy Reed 1980) who's cousin was a member of Green Jell-O/Jelly. He was mentioning them just the other night. His cousin did the stop-motion animation for TOOL'S "Sober" video. Very talented guy. Check out his channels. He cover's breaking news in LA and Orange County. Friday and Saturday night's. Very casual. Laid back. 💚

This was actually very popular when it first came out, it was heavily played on the radio, there was quite a bit missing from this version they played.

I remember when this was new when I was in high school and the controversy, having to change the name of the band. We were at lunch, my opinion was that they should've changed the name of the band to Green Knox Blox 😂

Hilarious parody song and video. Right up there with Weird Al, but for stoner punks and metalheads Definitely an improvement on the original story. 😁 By the way, it's still pronounced "Green Jello" even though it's written "Green Jellÿ" (with an umlaut).

I love Jello. I make it and add Cool Whip for dessert. This is not something I will not seek this out, but it was funny. Dumb and Dumber is a great movie! I remember this in there! My sisters and my cousins always quote from the big three funniest movies of the 90's (Dumb and Dumber, Happy Gilmore, and Tommy Boy). Drove all our parents nuts at our get togethers! 😂

Okay, Guys. I wouldn't steer you wrong. You have to trust me on this one. Listen to "If You Want to Be Happy" by Jimmy Soul. GREAT melody, but even I, as an old fart, had NO IDEA what they were saying in the lyrics. It is hilarious! Check it out. As for "Three Little Pigs", novelty songs have a place in music. Good for kids or gettin' silly at parties or something. Anyway, you guys sure keep us guessing. I never know what's coming up next. LOL Thanks for your great reaction!

This was an intriguing reaction to me because it seemed like Nick's take may have been fun for fun's sake, while Ryan thought there was more intention from the band. Personally, I would agree more with Ryan here. It just seems like this group came up with innovative ways of presenting their music (the video and the video only format for the album) that wasn't by accident. I could see a scenario where the band hoped every 13 year old knucklehead would love this song and they probably did, thus it was a hit. One last thought: The guys absolutely have to take Nick's "Come on, ya'll" comment from early in the video and add that to the fire, Old Spice, and other sound effects on the computer for future reactions. That line is perfect for something outstanding or totally out of left field. Depending on where a person stands, that could be one or both for this "one hit wonder."

It’s not so much that they redid the story a different way completely it was just a more modern version with a different style. It’s also done in a way that they connected with a group of people that were familiar with the source material and would appreciate the restyled version.

Definitely an interesting choice from the guys on this one, but I do like the fun in the screenshot for the video. I could well be wrong, but I feel like (as a heavy metal song) this might have been a Nick choice. It is possible that I missed a recommendation on this from a viewer, but it wouldn't shock me if Nick picked it up. The guys may well bring this up in their intro, but this song peaked inside the top #20 in the early 1990s. It is derived from the well-known children's fairy tale, thus it is considered a cover of "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" from the early 1930s. From what I could find, it appears the song has been sampled at least once. However, this may well be the first song in the marathon that I have not been able to find documentation that the song has been covered. On a final, very intriguing note that the guys may also get into in the video, it appears two early members of Green Jelly went on to be founding members of the band Tool. Besides at least 1 top 20 mainstream hit, the group has that going for it as well.

I, definitely, would not qualify this as "a hit!" (🤷🤷🤷 but.... 🤷) Also, the "band"/collective was, still, going under its inital name: Green Jello [or perhaps it was spelled "as on products": "Jell-o" 🤷🤷]. This was before the lawsuits had gone to court (or, at least prior to any decision being handed down.🤷) and while they had some inkling that: "there might be problems" (stupidly) ...it, certainly, wasn't clear🤷🤷 -Regardless: I always found it "funny" (and ridiculous!) that: a corporation which, for decades, permitted a sexual predator like b*ll cos*y (or: balls crusty, as I prefer he be referred to, when necessary to do so!) to rep. their products, had "an issue" with: some joke-y, pseudo-fart joke, pseudo-"industrial" band employing a term which contained one of their products, which, generally, represented: the most common (and, thereby: uninteresting ...or 🤷🤷 to some understandings: "least offensive" -🤷🤷- or "most average" (or, perhaps: "most ignored" 🤷...)), uninteresting ingestible, generalized as: being found on "all" "institutional meal trays" (and so forth). 🤷🤦
