The best ever so far I have seen. The green and colourful Kalahari. Best of best sightings especially the two male brothers and the cheetah family. The cherry on the cake - leopard mating on the green grass. The best ever sightings. How can I join you on a safari to Kalahari?

Great video, bud. I experienced a similar Kalahari in Feb 2012 and it was magnificent, with some of the best sightings on my end as well. People think lots of rain will keep the animals away, but I think it's a misnomer. Anyway - we've also had our fair share of car trouble and stomach trouble in that wonderful place...once it was from absentmindedly using the ice in the freezer of the chalet (like you said: don't touch the water, even frozen versions of it)

It's my pleasure, Susan - I'm glad you enjoyed it. Knowing that harsh Kalahari sun, I'm going to guess that most of the greenery will have been replaced with golden colours...

Wow, what a great trip and so well documented. TR and Nossob have been my favourites, with Kij kij and CQ probably my favourite waterholes. I mostly enjoy just driving up and down the dune roads to see whatever natures offers up. Were those some black storks in the one scene at the waterhole? Can't believe the amount of rain, green and flowers this year!
@TheSafariExpert3 жыл бұрын
Thanks John. I must agree - KijKij and Qubitje are amazing waterholes, especially for photography. Those storks were Abdim's storks. It was incredible to see so many of them in one spot, some days in their hundreds... 😱

Great Video! What camera/lens setup did you both use to photograph the wildlife?
@TheSafariExpert3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Upendra. Check out my video on the best 600mm for wildlife in the Kgalagadi that I post a couple of weeks before this one - that will give you a good idea. Essentially, Owen used a Canon 5DmkIV with a 600mm f/4 prime and I filmed with a combination of a Canon 80D + Tamron 150-600mm G2 and a Canon 5DmkIV + a Canon 100-400mm II lens.

Can you make more videos like this
@marnabuys94963 жыл бұрын
Hi Villiers, very nice video, thanks! I consider buying a video camera like the one you mentioned above. How many of the clips in this video were taken by the Canon XA50? I would like to get a feel of the quality of the camcorder. Or were most taken with your DSLR? Do you mainly use the door bracket to stabilize your equipment? Thanks
@TheSafariExpert3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Marna. To be honest, not many - most of the video clips were filmed on either a Canon 80D or Canon 5DmkIV DSLR. The quality will always be a little bit better with a DSLR and proper lens, but the main restrictions lie in not being able to zoom, pan or tilt properly. That’s why I got the Canon XA50. Perhaps I should make a video comparing the XA50 footage with that of my DSLR 🤔
@marnabuys94963 жыл бұрын
That is a great idea. Perhaps I should rather buy a stabilizer for my vehicle and take the videos with my dslr. My problem currently is camera shake. Thanks for commenting
@TheSafariExpert3 жыл бұрын
@@marnabuys9496, camera shake is a huge issue! I use a stabilisation effect in Premier Pro to make my footage appear smoother.
