I used to grow a variety that went : green, yellow and then finally red. It was a few years until I found out about the other colours like purple and orange. Like you said, it does depend on the variety that is grown.

Although it's my first time seeing an orange bell pepper .....I can vouch for the fact that (some?) green bell peppers ripen and do become red.....coz I grew it at home. This sounds legit. Although I was half expecting the green ones to turn yellow and then red....it turned red from green......and we ate 'em 😁😋

I bought a good amount of green bell peppers I kept all in the fridge after some days a small part of one green bell pepper turned yellow n then another part turned red from the same green bell peppers In the end, I saw yellow and red shades on that green bell pepper N it was not as crunchy as day 1

This video is actually incorrect. All bell peppers are the same species (Capsicum annuum). It's that the species was developed into many different cultivars so that they can mature into different colors. So while it's correct that a single bell pepper might not go through a whole range of distinct colors in stages, this video also contains a different kind of misinformation.

All of the things I see on that answer that it is because they are pulled off the vine first and that they are unripened orange, yellow, and red peppers, but that goes against this video. Some fruits and vegetables do not continue to ripen once removed from the vine/tree. Another example of this are pineapples. If you remove a sour unrippened pineapple from the tree, it will remain sour and unrippened until it just rots. If you want a sweet, ripe pineapple you have to leave it on the tree until it is ripe.

Just like in your video about scallions and spring onions, the information is this video is incorrect. All yellow, orange and red peppers start out green. All green peppers will ripen to a different colour if left on the plant long enough. There is no such thing as a green pepper that will not change colour when ripe. Every pepper that has ever existed started out green and ripened to a different colour or was harvested before it ripened fully Orange, yellow and red peppers are not different "species", they are different varieties of the same species. You might know how to cook but your knowledge of plants and how they grow is just completely wrong and you are spreading false information.
