Have you thought about having some extra water stored that would gravity water your beds in case of a power failure? And possibly a way to have gravity fed emergency water for your home needs too? Maybe you could build a little water tower by both the house and the garden.

About 3 years ago I went with the DIG system. I ran the 1/2 tubing into all of my beds and plugged the 1/4 emitters into the 1/2 tubing and terminated them. I created 3 zones for my beds and one for my fruit trees and hooked up a four port timer (I am guessing this is what you are doing in your next video). I have not watered my garden in 3 years. Last year I ran the same thing to all of my wife's flowers and we have not had to water them either. We just fertilize and watch them grow :)

I'm cheap, LOL , but I want to see the water amounts that go in my garden. So I just set up a main line that I don't have to move to mow and put overhead sprinklers up in different sections at a time. The plants that like lots of water I group together and the ones who like a little water in another area. I can keep better tabs on the water and don't have to worry about clogged emitters and expensive parts.

could double up on the drip tape and stagger the holes in them should give out water in more places , if the straight tube doesnt work run a loop around every plant when i made watering systems i made a t on the feedline and atached the start and the end of the driptube to it , that way if theres a clog halfway down the line it still feeds from the other end and it lets the water go to the end of the line faster even when automating the watering system keep an eye on it and stick a finger in the soil to test the moistness at several places , keep an eye on the plants too as they know perfectly well when there no water for them and show you their displeasure by drooping or turning brown if you dont take the first hint

One more thing you need to do. Please protect your family’s drinking water supply. Install a back flow prevention device. All states require one where a irrigation system hooks up to a drinking water system.. If the water water source pressure falls it could create a negative pressure situation and draw water back into your drinking water. An atmospheric vacuum breaker can be used if there is no isolation valve down stream of the breaker. If there’s an isolation downstream then a pressure vacuum breaker must be installed.
@charlene5461 Жыл бұрын
@thomasfreeman7770 this sounds so scientific and complicated but at the same time, makes sense. Thanks for sharing.
@thomasfreeman7770 Жыл бұрын
@@charlene5461 really not complicated at all. It is a simple device that won’t allow backwards flow of water should the pressure fail on the water supply. Instead of letting the water run backwards and possibly causing contamination of the drinking water with dirt and or chemicals that may be used in the garden. It opens a vent to allow reversing water to fall to the ground.

Hi Sam and Angela, will the raised beds always have seedlings/plants? The reason for the question I saw was that you did not put a faucet at the entrance to each bed to allow the faucet to be closed when the bed is empty.
