It is such a lame thing to "compare" songs like this, but clearly you are a fan. Never heard anyone talk about that tune before. I always held it dear.... Haven't heard it in forever, so thank you for the reminder. Although it's hilarious that 20 years ago, no one paid attention to Letterbomb. Billie Joe talks about it on Howard Stern, & you people suddenly act like it's quintessential Green Day. It is, but everyone slept on that one. It was always my favorite on American Idiot.

@@EliaAl-Nims As a Christian, I normally like references in songs, even negative ones. This lyric is really sad because it shows the entitlement of most people, & why they can't grasp God. We are not promised ANYTHING in this world. Only the next. I'm not trying to be an ass, I mean it's really depressing. It's a great lyric to sum up the desperation of our lives, but it lacks impact. My all-time FAVOURITE Green Day lyric is "Not every Sunday can be Easter."
@EliaAl-Nims10 ай бұрын
@@kaitlyngault3987 same. Its a sad lyric but a true one. My favorite green day lyric is from letterbomb, “where will all the martyrs go when the virus cures itself, and where will we all go when it’s too late?” It says so much in only one line.
@EliaAl-Nims9 ай бұрын
@@kaitlyngault3987 also as a christian, i dont think that line is referring to jesus himself but rather the world and the system. In the line where it says he promised us forever but we got less, i found it works really well when american idiot is taken into context. The jesus of suburbia’s arc was that he left a life of rebellion to live a normal life, but now when people do the same, ifs basically hell in this day and age. Its impossible to live an honest life and not be on the brink of starvation. Especially in the US.
