My best friend Jake was the biggest Green Day fan I've ever met. Jake knew every word to every song and he even had a tattoo of the Warning album on his arm. He is the person who got me into pop punk music. Sadly on October 23, 2013, Jake made a decision to end his own life at 20 years old. I now am 21 and my life hasn't been the same ever since. He was like an older brother to me. Although he is gone, I know Jake is still breathing. His loving spirit will never die. Jake, I'm still breathing for you. I miss you man.

Maybe we are all both scared to live and to die. Like the Panic! At The Disco album: Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die. The fear of death is what keeps us alive. It's what kept ME alive. (You are all so lucky to have this song and songs like these when you were at your lowest point. My mother wouldn't let me listen to any of them...at first.) But maybe...the fear of living is what motivates us to live too. I do not know where my life is going. And I'm afraid. So I'm not just gonna sit around and wait for some "Call to Adventure." I'm gonna make things happen myself. I'm gonna LIVE.

I see some comments saying this song isn't really "green day". Green Day isn't a genre. You don't expect them to make songs that sounds exactly like their old ones. They said they want to try something new and that's what they're doing. Anyways, I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE AlBUM IS OUT AND THE MOVIE ORDINARY WORLD IS OUT!

People are so disappointed in this song. It's not like it's the only song that there's going to be on the album. There's more to come so chill. Some could be better or some could be total shit but oh well. Billie doesn't care. And if some people like their songs don't go hate on them just cause you don't like it. We all have different taste.

Yeah, weak is the right word for the trilogy dude but...i personally think that there's so many overrated songs in there, especially in my fav: Trè! 😉 Dos is a typical Foxboro Hot Tubs record (in fact Billie Joe said that this seriously was a FHT record), Uno it's like a The Clash, Ramones and old school GD mixtape. The weakest song is A Little Boy named Train, after Nightlife of course but i still really like the trilogy anyway 👍😎

‘I’m like a son that was raised without a father, I’m like a mother barely keeping it together’ I know that feeling. I lost my mother at a young age, even younger than he was. Growing up I had no one I could relate to. Then after ten years of feeling alone, I find Billie Joe Armstrong. Our stories are so similar I actually get them confused sometimes. We’ve never met but he’s become the friend that I never had, the friend who knows what it’s like to be walking through a hospital, having a nurse ask ‘how are you?’ and the only thing you want to say is “wake me up when September ends”. He saved me. He is the reason I’m still breathing.

I really hate when people judge Green Day because they claim that their music has strayed into a particular genre! They have NEVER been just a one genre band and that's one of the best things about them! Listen to this, then to Kill The DJ, then Peacemaker, then Minority, then Take Back, then Brainstew one after the other and you'd think you were listening to several different bands! I say judge the content of the song, not it's genre and for me, it just so happens to be one of their best songs! I see this as the Wake Me Up When September Ends of this Album and I remember how split everybody was about that one too when it was originally released! It's a truely beautiful song!

The first four albums have some music's are very distinct of the band style (Songs like No one Knows, Words I Might Have Ate, Christie Road, Pulling Teeth, . This is one of them. ¿saben algo? This song used to be just another Green Day song, but today it came on while I was at the gym and it hit me: he's singing about having that self destructive lifestyle, about that lifestyle destroying you and about getting out, being on the other side, being able to look back and just be grateful that you were able to come back from it. That.... that's really something I can relate to. 3 years ago, I was 350 pounds, still shoving fast food and candy and soft drinks down my throat all the time. I was having chronic chest pains, I had no energy or endurance, I couldn't get a good nights sleep and size 26 pants were starting to get snug. I wasn't taking care of my body at all. If I had continued that path, I would have died. In 2018 I finally had enough of it and I started working out and eating healthy and taking care of myself. I weigh 216 lbs, I wear size 16 pants and I feel better than I've felt in years. This song is about looking back at your past and being amazed and grateful that you've survived and that I am.

My brother died in a car accident, one of the last times we talked I was hearing "Basket case" and he said he loved that song too; never imagined one of my favorite songs would liked him, when i was a baby and he cared me when our parents worked ...he died 10-Dec-2016, this song came shortly to my life, when I heard it first time I cried so hard, it reminded me my brother, the wound was too fresh. ikr? people want Green Day to always sound the same but if they did that they would complain that it's the same. it's like they're afraid of the change. Green Day sounds like Green Day. They keep experimenting and that's what is amazing about them. anyway. that song gets to me and it might be my favorite on the album so far even though the two others are also great
@bellabliss18608 жыл бұрын
It might just be my favorite too actually. The lyrics are just so perfectly flown. The instrumentation is really simplistic but that doesn't really matter to me. It doesn't have to be fast-paced and loud like Bang Bang or ultra-melodic and anthemic like Revolution Radio to make a powerful impact on the listener. I really, really love this song.
@martintemelkov8 жыл бұрын
Last night I listened to the song for the first (and only) time. As soon as I heard it, I thought to myself - this could be one of the best Green Day songs - even of all time. I've been listening to it the whole day today so far, and I have to say - my opinion hasn't changed. Beautiful song, truly.

I would never have expected anything like this to come from green day, but that being said his voice fits PERFECTLY for a song like this. Lyrics hit the right buttons as well. Pretty damn emotional. I completely agree, if people think this isn't Green Day then I don't know what to say...the message in the song is clear and has meaning. Now if that isn't Green Day then I don't know what is 😭💙 I'm so proud of what they are able to do~ people shouldn't judge based on one song...(which is amazing anyway)

No matter how hard it gets I keep telling myself I'm still breathing. I've been through hard times multiple times and I've been very depressed and upset but Green Day has always been there. Green Day as always not disappointing in both sound and lyrics. And it is precisely because of the message of the lyrics of this song that I cry to see that, even though I am going through an unpleasant moment in my life, I have a motivational hymn to keep myself alive and to go forward with hope in love! Thank you Billie Joe for writing lyrics like this and saving lives with your songs!

When I first heard this song, it was odd, nothing like what I had heard from Green Day before. But after hearing it countless times, seeing it performed live, understanding just how much passion has been put into these lyrics, and how much this message means to so many people, there's no denying that it's a fucking masterpiece, one of the best songs on the album. If you don't get why it's so great, then you're one of the lucky ones who never had to suffer enough and to be so low to understand

This has been a very tough year for everyone around the world. I'm no different. I didn't listen to this song all that much when it came out. I think I must have heard it again in December 2019 or January 2020 when it just pierced through my soul. I absolutely fell in love with this song. Been having a very rough year, had someone important leave me all to myself. In the darkest and most miserable times, I've found the company of this trio via this gem of a song. I've cried to this, I've smiled to this. I've danced like crazy to this song all alone in my room several times. I've shared it multiple times on social media. This song has been my light throughout my recovery. @GreenDay, if you're reading this - thank you for giving me the hope that I so desperately needed. Thank you for comforting me when I'm alone and thank you for helping me believe. I know I'm not there yet, but I am listening to this song every day of my recovery from addiction and from heartbreak. And hopefully, I'll make it. :") Cause I'm Still Breathing, Cause I'm Still Breathing on my own...

It was when i had bad sinusitis and i had to heal it,which was one hell of a pain, and i was crying, like doctors were trying to actually kill me, even though they weren't.When this song came on player, i immediately felt some kind sense of comfort, kind and hugs, that Green Day were sending me through this particular song. I still cried that day, but i understood back then, thanks to this song, that everything will be ok and it will get better. That not everything in my life will be a walking nightmare and hell. Couple years ago at the height of the covid pandemic I was extremely depressed, as I can imagine a lot of people were. No opportunities, limited social interaction and an eating disorder in top of it all. I was very close to giving up. Then I got hit by a car and was hospitalized for a week. I hit my head really hard so the following two weeks are completely gone from my memory, but as I came back to I slowly realized that man, I had survived that! It was something to be proud of. Changed my outlook on life a lot and I became a much happier person. I listened to this song on repeat for months afterward, too. Humans are capable of getting through some extremely tough circumstances. Whatever you’re going through, remember that as long as you’re still breathing, there’s a chance things will turn around like they did for me. Once you realize how amazing the fact that you’re alive is, the whole world seems a lot brighter.

I feel like it's gonna be a mixture of all the types of songs they've made over the years. This song seems to be more of an Uno/Dos/Tre song, maybe 21st Century Breakdown. Then we also had Bang Bang, which is definitely going back to their roots, and Revolution Radio, which seems more in the middle time-wise.
@HLGCeltic248 жыл бұрын
Thats a problem though, for me. Uno, Dos, and Tre were all really diverse and those albums were just ok. Some people really liked them, but there was no flow on the albums so they are kind of confusing to some listeners. I fear the same if going to happen with RevRad

TW possibly (illness, hospital) his song really means a lot to me, it helped me get through a tough time last year I was a end of life patient on a cardiology ward in hospital and on tube feeds. Oxygen. IV saline and IV meditations and IV nutrients and vitamins. They let my boyfriend and his dad come visit me (even during covid lockdown) because I was end of life. I was there for 6 months. I always liked this song but i played it so much during those 6 months and it gave me hope. And somehow, (no clue how) thanks to the amazing doctors and nurses and health care assistants in in the hospital I survived and I'm still breathing, I'm still breathing on my own.

this song makes me feel like the music is reaching out of the screen, cradling my face in its hands, holding me close and whispering "It's going to be alright..."

this is the poppiest song Green Day ever recorded ... and still, it has the green day sound to it (which I love) which makes this song the best poppy pop-punk song ever :D

21 Guns, The Forgotten, Macy's Day Parade, Good Riddance, etc aren't poppier!?

Agreed. Btw 21st Century Breakdown (their most Alternative sounding album) is my favorite

These songs are alternative balads ... yeah, you can say they're poppy but it holds a purpose. This song is an upbeat pop-punk song with a radio friendly sound ... which makes it poppy. Still sounds good though! ^^

I've grown from self-harm and crying to music that made me even more depressed, to listening to this song and singing my heart out until everything feels better. Healthy coping mechanisms make the difference. Thank you guys for providing me with one.
