BRAVO!!! .. for saving the original tub ... at 85%!!! .that's amazing ... I'd still recommend saving a tub at 40% ... that real Jeep metal that has been through a LOT ... just seems RIGHT to save as much as possible!! PLUS?? Noting against a 'Juan new replacement Tub' though, ... We've all seen few jeeps FRAMES saved with a Juan Tub ... some times that just how it goes! :)

Greendot...all you need to do with those white lenses is give them a really good clean, use a very fine wet/dry sandpaper to polish the surface and spray with an automotive clear red 2 pac finish. It'll seal them and still reflect light...essentially all you're doing is changing the spectrum of reflected light as the angled faces will still reflect the light...putting the coloured 2 pac finish on the outside and polish i ng the inside of the metal retainer cap will allow the reflected light to look red....don't paint the inside as that will dull it and defeat the purpose.

You can use your original red lights just puting red foil on oryginal lights.

Is it possible to pour your own? Make a silicone mold and then pour your own acrylic piece?

Was thinking about all the repro ''F'' marked parts ( which are good quality), how the manufacturers deal with the Ford company for using the F logo ( trademark)? do they have to pay ?

There have been big problems with copyright which have caused issues with jeep big J and little j. It appears Ford have player ball so far, autolite have not, perhaps there will be issues in the future?

aside from finding the reflectors on ebay what websites would you recommend that would possibly have the correct lenses as im eventually going to need to attend to mine on my cj3a/m38 conversion and might just end up buying originals

Unfortunately I don't think any dealers stock originals, they're the sort of thing you have to collect if you want originals :(

Max, you can try a site called Kaiser Willys! They offer just about everything from brand new parts including engine blocks to all the bits to make it a runner.

Maybe I am in left field here so let me now ... i am NOT a fan of reflectors at all on a battle vehicle, (I'd consider removing them entireley) even in mock maneuvers, we used to spray over them with matt paint. Does anyone know for sure if this was done in field, in WW2 .. I've only heard "random stories" .. maybe it's a local myth?.

I'm with you Mike, I dont understand the reflectors on the vehicle in the first place, they had blackout lights but left reflectors on them?? I would love to hear about if there are any photos of reflectors removed or painted over in combat.
