Man, those 1st gen GMC Sonomas were DAMN hansome. It literally looked like a slighly shrunken version of the full size GMT400 of the time, which is a beautiful truck as well. I love the pre-facelift GMT400 GMC front ends....these Sonomas definitely did a good job representing the GMC design language of the time.

I had a 92 GMC K2500 light duty, it wasn't even close to square like the 78K30 I traded it for. Only difference in body style on the first gen was the side markers, the S10-S15 had them on the grill where the fullsize trucks had them on the fenders.

Yeah, the Splash was just a (mostly) 90’s graphic package for the Ranger that carried into the early 2000’s and nothing more. There were no performance upgrades whatsoever, and that pretty much nixes them from any “performance” truck video, especially since the Vulcan 3.0 V6 made all of 147 hp in its highest output.

I saw a Ranger with the 3.0l and 5 speed for sale yesterday. Had no idea they made that. I think the most that's been done to a Vulcan was someone fitting a 3.8 Supercharger to it. That thing was sweet and oh so 90s, it was a dark purple with some super funky graphics package which we called the Dixie Cup livery. Kinda self explanatory, it looked like those disposable paper cups you used to find everywhere. Probably back about 06-07 I had a coworker who was a big Sy/Ty guy, he owned several mostly Typhoons in his life. One of those he had actually done a 5 speed swap in, and he hated it. He said it made the car slower than with the automatic, I have to assume it was because of the gearing in whatever trans he sourced.

5:56-yes there was. You showed a picture of the 2wd 1993-1994 ford ranger splash but you didn't discuss that model. The splash was/ is a sportstruck. It has very stiff explorer front springs/ shocks and sway bars front and rear. It sits 1-1/2 inches lower than a regular 2wd ranger. And comes with 235/R60-15 Firestone tires. And man it will zing around corners. The fastest version was the standard cab with the 4.0 V-6 and the stick shift with 3.73 rear gear. Everyone that drives or sits in the passenger seat is suprized how fast it will go around a curvey road. In 1995 ford put the splash suspension on some of the regular rangers. So the '93 to '95 splash 2wd model is the fastest ranger they made.

They had to pull the engine *with* the torque converter still attached. I found out firsthand a 5+ years ago why these CPI models seize up. Bought a dead 94 Sonoma for $1000. Spent $700 on a new spider injector, nut kit, starter, tune-up stuff...only to find out it knocked once it warmed up. The Ford would be easier to work on but i am in love with displacement so I'd have to opt for the ss454. Probably regret it when it needs an alignment.

No replacement for displacement

If I won the Lotto I'd have a Black 454SS and a matching Black Ford Lightning of the same model year.

"Performance" is a generous term for all but the Syclone / Typhoon.

I agree to an extent. Was I to title the video "More forgotten somewhat performance-ish trucks of the '90s"?

4:28 #Syclone owner of number 0828 all stock. #SonomaGT was more rare for sure. 1993 lightning had 2 tanks, came in useful when I went to vegas.

That _snrrrkh_ as the end is AI as hell you can’t fool us I don’t care for pick’m-ups at all but man that Syclone is lean and mean, a far cry from the crowd-control brodozers piled up in modern suburban mall parking lots

They have a brand new Lightning, and im not talking about the EV crap. They call it an FP700. The S10's also had a S10 Extreme and the S10 ZQ8 that came out in 1999. I guess you would put that in the 2000s era though.
