As for sliding doors, and whether they would be too heavy for your bows / end-walls it would really depend on three things: 1) What diameter are your end-bows 2) What kind of framing does your end-wall have 3) how much wood will be in your doors If your bows are a strong heavy duty steel, your end-wall framing has studs with firmly planted anchors, and your door framing isn't comprised of a TON of lumber that makes your doors too heavy, I would assume your structure can handle the weight of the doors. With the above being said, if your structure bows are comprised of PVC, and your studs are not well anchored, you may want to reconsider a lumber framed double sliding door until you address the other two points. Question regarding the tubing: are these 3/4 emt conduit pipes you are using in this construction? If so, are you using a normal emt connecter to extend the length. Thanks for the video!

All of the tubing used in the video for the installation of the roll-bars, anti-billow tubing, and guide post are 1.315" Outer Diameter galvanized steel tubing. This is commonly referred to as "top-rail" or chain link fence top-rail. You can find it in most big box hardware stores in the chain link fence section. For our purposes, we get this tubing in 21 ft. lengths so we did not need to extend any of the units. If you purchase top-rail you will notice that one end is swaged (male) and the other end is un-swaged (female). You can connect / extend them using these inserts and self tapping screws. You could technically use EMT for the anti-billow tubing shown in the video, although I would recommend 1.315" OD top-rail for both of the roll-bars and the guide post. The reason being, 1.315" OD tubing configures with more hardware than EMT and it might make future steps and changes easier to work with. For example the snap clamps won't fit EMT but will fit the 1.315" OD top-rail, and similarly the gear box shown in the video works best with 1.315" top-rail. Hope this helps!

Do you have any clues to the ease of which to transfer back and forth from a roll up door to closing off the opening completely for winter growing? i’m wondering if you can just unroll the center roll bar and pvc clips and fasten the whole thing with spring clamps in late fall, and redo it in spring. Mayve it would be better to just get a seperate sheet of plastic that you spring clamp on behind the roll up so that you dont have to redo the setup?

What is the ideal size to construct high tunnel??

Thanks for the question - there is not necessarily an ideal size other than what size is ideal for YOUR operation and space available. Benefits can be experienced from small 10 ft. wide x 12 ft. long structures or large 30 ft. wide x 144 ft. long structures (for example). If I were you I would take a look at my property and what my goals would be for a high tunnel, and then I would try to determine what size would work best based on those parameters.
