Don't worry about the idiots that say any of your videos don't look professional. You spend a lot of time addressing things like that or explaining what type of video this is. Your greenhouse is cool. You're showing us what you've got going on and we enjoy it. Please stop feeking the need to explain yourself to others or defend yourself in any way, that brings down the quality of your video. Keep enjoying your greenhouse, keep sharing it with us and forget about trying to please any viewers.

Thanks for the update. I'm on very fine, wind deposited sandy soil. It has a tendency to turn into a soft brick after being soaked and dried up. When the top is dry and loose it becomes water repellent. In order to mitigate that, I mix in 40 percent of compost, and some bentonite clay and crushed basalt rock. Everything seems to grow well on that mix, except the cabbage, cale types. Old neighbour, from farm, told me to expect that on the sandy soil here (more bentonite may be needed). I'm a bit surprised about the moist level in your GH, condensation is supposed to occur in your deep embedded air ducts. In order to keep moisture levels down in my GH, I water the plants subsoil, by using dug in, plastic pots, ballasted with pebbles, it also suppresses weeds. Best wishes, greetings from Holland.

Fantastic Update Christopher ... I Love your greenhouse my friend, I would be very happy with the heat and humidity in there as I really don't like being cold. Beautiful space to play with the plants and hobby we both enjoy. Looking forward to seeing your plants progress this year and more updates from you, take care and have fun from your Canadian friend ;-)

On the sand mixed in to your compost...perhaps it just means a bit more watering? Interested to see how it turned out! Your original plan of extending season on both ends seems to be working really well! Cheers!

.... corn.....hope you plant in a square... to mature and self pollinate... if you grow it in a straight single line...it will grow...but not fruit...needs a patch or grow mates to pollinate and give you corn....I believe...

What a greenhouse😳😳. So big. If I were you, I would supported your tomatoes and cucumbers with strings from the roof and tomato clips on the strings. Take a look to Spring Hill Farms channel. What kind of watering system do you plan to have? Congratulations on a new greenhouse and good luck with the growing season. Best wishes from Benni in Norway.

Salut.

Sand is a great grow medium...maybe the best. It just requires a thick layer of compost on top and more frequent watering.

Hiya Christopher! Fascinated by this project.... but how did it work out for you in terms of extending the growing period more than just a greenhouse alone? And what is the sensor data like? I looked at your website link to see the data but it’s difficult to understand. It looks as though the temperature below ground is always just a few degrees different to above ground and moves day to night without really preserving any heat... or am I reading it wrong? Are you able to reclaim any heat from below ground at night?? Thanks for putting this video series up... it’s super interesting!

Dear Christopher Brandsdal, Thank you so much for your videos. I have enjoyed watching them and have learned so much! How is your geothermal system working? What are the green house's inside temperatures vs. outside temperatures during the hot July and August months? And how many hours/day do you run the fans? Your system uses two fans: The big fan is 1180 m3/hr => 4 outlet pipes and the small one is 400 m3/hr => 2 outlet pipes. Am I correct? What kind of fan are they? How many meters of drain pipes did you use for the greenhouse? (Was it 500 meters total?) Again, thank you for sharing your invaluable experience. I love it.

Hi! I will do a video on my results very soon. Stay tuned for that. For the rest of the information, I have it all spread out in my videos on the build. Don't remember exactly here I am now.

I've been enjoying your videos of your greenhouse build. I notice however that your fans are pushing air into your thermal battery. You would get about a 20% increase in flow if you were pulling air through the system instead of pushing due to reduced head pressure and greatly decreased turbulence. Just a thought. As for the sand mix, I've used that in my greenhouse and noticed that it does not retain water very well. It needed much more frequent watering than I was expecting. Maybe the mix I bought had too much sand?
@ChristopherBrandsdal5 жыл бұрын
This is interesting. If 20% is in fact true, I probably should do a video trying to rotate the fans for a day. Constructive comment, I like it! 👍

@@ChristopherBrandsdal Hi Chris, you`ll find its better to push than pull but try it both ways ;) Having the inlets and outlets located close to the greenhouse perimeter isnt ideal I have mine positioned as far from the perimeter as possible for this reason. I cant believe you forgot to install a sensor in the ground outside the greenhouse to track the difference ;) When the ground thaws you could hook a hosepipe to a long piece of rigid plastic tube and use the water pressure to sink the tube into the ground. If there are no rocks in the way you could be down to 2m in as many minutes.

... Michigan here zone 6...I have seen people bury a water line in the sand...connected to small water heater...set on low ...then pump the warm water under the sand...great for seedlings...
