What if the phillipins also had other crops they didn't need to import? Question number 5???? I think that answer choice c is also wrong. If my house hold was a nation for instance, I could be growing yams in my backyard, but still need to leave my home to purchase rice. In that case, I could be an exporter of yams, but an importer of rice. Neither case signifies that I would have to go hungry, or not be able to meet my feeding goals, just cause rice is an exotic dish for me. The passage only mentions that they have to import rice and nothing more. .... I could be wrong though, but I think I'm right!!

Could you tell me why those two sentences in the second paragraph become two different statements at question 6? It seems like first one is statement, the second one is just like more detailed explanation of first one?

I agree that the second sentence ("If that country was the sole....") sounds like an explanation/elaboration of the first sentence ("In a highly-interconnected world..."), but they are still general examples. The last paragraph is a SPECIFIC example. Does that help? Cheers, Brent

In Question 4, why Is option C not correct? The 10th sentence is used as an example for the claim "one individual country's action..." in the beginning of the passage.

The 10th sentence is hypothetical. In other words, it hasn't necessarily happened in the real world. As such, this hypothetical sentence can't provide SPECIFIC EVIDENCE of a general claim. At best, it can provide HYPOTHETICAL advice. Does that help? Cheers, Brent

What about answer 5B? The text says that India needs 60 million tons of rice to provide to the poor (67% of its population) at a subsidized cost. But the amount of rice needed to feed its (total) population could be anything bigger than 60 million tons. So is answer B really supported by the passage?

In the second question, option D seems to be true. Why isn't it the correct answer?

What it comes to inference, we must ask "MUST this be true?" So, answer choice D is too strong an inference. Yes, it's POSSIBLE the MDG will not yield intended effects, but that's not 100% guaranteed. Answer choice E, on the other hand, uses weaker language (CAN).
