Congrats on your successful survey, transport, and re-porting. I'm a fan of the GL40 hybrid and I appreciate your choice to film and share this video. I hope once you start cruising (living aboard?) you'll make & share more vids about your ownership/operating experience. Enjoy...

@@metilaful Not sure if you're interested, but there is now a dedicated set of forums at TrawlerForum.com for the Greenline range of boats and technologies. If you're so inclined, you might hop on over, sign up if you're not already a member (takes under 5 mins), and visit the threads and, ideally, contribute your thoughts/concerns/experiences of GL40 ownership. I've suggested the same to other owners with whom I've corresponded. The thread specific to the 40 is below ... happy adventures!

I’m in Seattle area and has been looking into the Greenline 40 as well. Were you able to cruise it over the winter months? What’s the range you are getting?
@metilaful3 жыл бұрын
We didn't take it out last winter but we intend to do a little more this season, weather permitting. We run it mostly on the diesels and save the battery for all the comforts of home.

Hi there. We found your video while researching Greenline. We appreciated that you took the time to document your experience. We live on Puget Sound, and recently purchased a GL40. Do you have a preferred place for service?

Congrats on your new boat! We run everything by Andrew over at Ocean Trawler Yachts. He's good at lining people up to help us. Hope you enjoy it we have!

So, it’s a year later, how do you feel about the boat? Do you use the electric drive much? I’m considering this boat but have heard that on the Pacific Ocean, the electric engines are only good for the marina. Do you find that true? Are you still happy with the boat?
@metilaful3 жыл бұрын
Great questions. I agree I would not shut down the diesels during an ocean passage with any amount of swell. Even here in the Puget sound we deal with strong currents that make me want to have that diesel power at the ready if I need it. The electrics are not powerful enough for more than a quiet cruise on a calm day. But what a pleasant way to spend an afternoon that is! Also if we’ve been cruising on electric we’d still want to run the diesels on the last leg of a longer journey to make sure we are headed to anchor on a full battery bank. Not as important if you’re going to plug in for the night. Even so, I haven’t seen another I’d rather have. It’s still the prettiest yacht in the marina. I’m told the newer models may have more powerful electrics? I don’t know. This is a 2014.

@@metilaful no, Southern California. Absolutely loving the boat. It’s been wildly over performing. Over 8 knots on electric only! So amazing

Starboard Motor. Right? I love these boats. For me the hybrid is so correct. I to want live aboard. Just curious how long will it take to get to Florida ?

What year is your Greenline? We’re thinking about getting one in the future and keep bouncing between the 33, 39 and 40, newer with Volvo/Penta and older with VW TDI. Would love to hear about your experience thus far. Also, how many hours? The only boat I’ve had/have is a 2002 Maxum 2400 SCR since new. Thanks.

2014 with twin VW 150 turbo diesels a little over 300 hrs each now. 33 is a fabulous boat, great design. If we didn’t want the guest cabin that would have been ideal for two people. I don’t see much advantage to the 39 over the 40. 40 has more storage, larger guest cabin and twin engines. The VWs vs Volvo’s are really apples and oranges and you’ll probably decide based on what you can afford. The VWs are running great for us but of course less power and harder to find parts in the US.
