I love how you show off the cool pieces of nature in your videos too! That Conifer tree was pretty cool! I've seen those back in the day when I lived in MA. And that MA state coin you found was wicked awesome! Great score, Brad!

Your little piece at 9:40 looks to be a key escutcheon. Where it is broke is part of the round section of the skeleton key.... Then it goes straight below that. Probably off of a locker..... Another great video Brad. See you next time!
@CMCrockett6 жыл бұрын
Exactly what I thought. The round part of that hole is above the center of the plate which would be strange for a knob.

Back when I was a kid, I used to put coins on the railroad tracks. Once they were flattened by the train they looked a lot like your silver coin. Thin, no detail left, and it would explain the brittleness due to the work hardening of the metal. Interesting find!

Dude, I watch a LOT of KZbin, on a variety of subjects. TV gets very little of my time the last few years. I gotta say your channel is great! I’m pretty deliberate about giving video’s a thumbs up and I’m also pretty critical. Your channel is one of a very few I can give a thumbs up right after pressing play, I now know it’s gonna be good! From content, camera work, and editing to the original music, it first class every time. Thanks for all the great content that makes your videos interesting and the “behind the scenes” work that makes them so easy and fun to watch. For real 👍

Hey Brad, what a great quick trip, and amazing finds!! Love Fall in the woods too, and the neat natural details you point out. Keeping a couple old shotgun shells your Dad or Grandpa may have shot is so cool. I would do the same, and will do if I ever get to go detecting where my Dad and Grandpa used to hunt. Keep up the good work.

Well I'll tell ya my friend. It's like this, prove to me it was a coin and I'll shed a tear, but we can't. No harm no foul. It's always a shame to damage any relic found during an adventure, but, at least it WAS found. That was a great find on the Mass Copper. I'm from Northern New England and can almost 'smell' the woods in your videos. I love it and miss it. My favorite time of year to be in the woods is autumn. Thanks for taking us along Brad! I'm with you Rick, I have a few William IV examples that match this. If you look under a mag glass Brad you may find some stamp marks - I have a few with letters, flowers etc that are not obvious to the naked eye.
@DavidBasonic6 жыл бұрын
If you want to ID that silver and aren't concerned about causing it to have a slight gray tarnish, you can (use nitrile gloves or something similar) rub it with silver testing solution for about 30 seconds and then rinse. The deets will just pop right out while it is still wet. Have a camera handy, as the effects don't last after the coin dries. You can wet it again, but the details will fade away over time. Again... to be certain... the coin will have an ashy gray thin tarnish to it after exposure to nitric acid... but, you could cut the tarnish back to about how it looked when you found it with a little lemon juice, if you want.
@GMMD6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the tip! I gave it a go, twice, but unfortunately still no details came through. Probably for the best, I’d be heartbroken if it was something incredible haha!

I switched from tenny-boppers to steel plate jump boots after I stepped on a 3 1/2" Honey Locust thorn. Like a caltrop, it went through the sole of the shoe and luckily, between two toes. Great silver (oops!) & Mass coins!!!! Always enjoy your adventures and always enjoy seeing early colonial. We have a little of it here in the Mid-Ohio Valley but mainly 1780s-1790s when we can find it. Yesterday while metal detecting I got a 88 to 91 on my garrett at max thinking it was going to be a pop can. When I dug it up it looks like a old metal rusted ring . I thought maybe it was a cut piece of pipe but the edges are rounded not sharp. Also found a old square nail next to it. It was on a mid 1800s old orchard.
