Look at it on the bright side. Even if Morton end up in Division 1 the league they'll be playing in is still well above the standard of the town. which is West of Scotland League 1. That'd be the one beneath Paisley, with Port Glsagow sneaking into the Lowland League. Inverkip would be in League 2, and both Gourock and Kilmacolm would make the Championship. (I should point out that I am Chairman of the Greenock Tourist Board and you will have to factor in my bias.)

my Ayr Utd supporting mate says morton fans are pa_pes without a busfare, my response to him was why would someone pay good money to watch a team they don't support and why refer to morton fans in such a manner

I find Jim Leishman to be one of the nicest figures to ever be involved in the Scottish game. East End Park's a nice enough ground, whether it be full or just the Main Stand for a youth game. Decent enough town for a pre-match walkabout too. However, the punishment should fit the crime, and Dunfermline deserve relegation again this season, and no promotion back to the top division until 2027. Their crime? Giving Peter Grant the manager's job for season 21/22. Just think it through. If you ask me to name the two biggest all-out Celtic men in my lifetime, one is Grant. Only one stands above him, and that's the man who signifies all that is best about Celtic, the late Tommy Burns. Even when Burns did something that looked evil (asking if Frank Cairney could get his job back and work with kids again) it was an ill-judged clash between naivety and Christian charity. Grant was the worst side of Celtic. He had been out of the game in a managerial role for years, and the only reason he got the Alloa job was because they're run by a man who's basically Celtic's proxy on football governing boards. (Remember Lawwell fell out with the SFA and moved to the SPFL? Who moved in the opposite direction at the same time? That's right, it was Proxy Mick - the man who excludes 40% of Scotland's population when appointing 89% of his managers!) Now, how much does it take for a dyed-in-the-wool bigot like Mulraney to sack another dyed-in-the-wool bigot such as Grant? How clueless must Grant have been? That's not just sacking a manager. That's sacking a footballing hero and a fellow member of the faith - even if both of them are a disgrace to it and nothing like the devout and respectable Burns. For him to get the sack he must've been so bad that Mulraney landed himself with all the guilt of doing the dirty on one of his own. He was terrified that Grant would land Alloa lin League Two. Dunfermline appointed him after that. I've seen some appalling managerial appointments in my lifetime. In the 70s Rangers appointed John Greig. 80s, Morton, Willie McLean. 90s, Celtic, John Barnes. 00s, Aberdeen, Stevie Paterson. 10s, Hibs, Terry Butcher. For the 20s, Peter Grant at Dunfermline is almost a certainty to join that list. Nah, seriously, I've no grudges and you'll find me at the Juniors, but Peter Grant. For Christ's sake!
