Thank you very much for the video. Me too im very different from my 25 y o self. Then life it was only about materials. Now watching my son growing up i understood many and i will share with you. It is a fact that we all came from one cell half of it was in our father and half in our mother. This cell after united didn't just multiply every cell had a unique purpose although same with all the others. Had a purpose and a map where it should go and what should do...its role. Our cells are us and we are these cells. Never forget that. These cells are robots and yet we are not and that's a miracle. We can't just go around eat bullshit food and expect we will travel for long free of health problems. Our cells need good quality food. The opposite of what you find in supermarkets. Try to eat as primal as it can be. Big corporations want you weak and dependent on them and the system they created. Money and power belong to them. You try to get different and they will smash you. But its the only way if you want to be unique and that miracle. Yes i believe in God. Its the only explanation. You can call God: aliens... Its the same thing. We are not evolved. Somebody is responsible for our existence. Is your duty everybody's duty to find that someone!

I am 41 and at 34, after my daughter was born i started to change. Things failed to bring me joy like before (not even motorbikes) and became minimalist, spend days without buying even an espresso and feel joy and peace in the presence of my family and few friends and the contentment of having enough. I no longer have material goals, don't care about clothes, cars, social status. Just find peace and happiness in simple tasks like cooking, smiling, feeling the sun in my skin or the voice of my little daughter. I understand him. I am not particularly religious but i have found something, something you can't touch or describe but a 20y old me would never understand.

I am currently in a deep, deep depression, as well as very addicted to a substance + cigarettes. This film came at exactly the right moment, as today is especially dark, and I wish I could need less and be free of a addictions, and be content with what I have. I want to be able again to simply enjoy the sunlight, or a book, without always needing smoking something. I want to live joyfully again, these reflection of life videos really make a change in my perception, it warms my heart and inspires me so much. One day I will be free. True, but you don't have to move away to a remote shanty somewhere to find peace and joy. It actually can cost a great deal of money to do what some minimalists do. Most of us have to work, but we don't need the best house, car, or clothes. True joy is found in Jesus. 'The joy of the Lord is our strength.'

When my son was 30, he left home to travel the world. Eleven years later, he is still doing it! When he used to do his yearly visit, I would weep, saying good bye was hard as I felt he was like a feather, floating around. During a visit, as we were getting ready to say good bye, I stared a his only peace of luggage, a wave of admiration and respect flooded my being. Like this man, at age 30, he had gained the freedom I would never be able to gain, at least in this life time!

Learn from your son and unlearn what you've learned. I hope you may find your freedom and peace. It's not about traveling or being a minimalist. It's their journey. You have yours. Your life has meaning. Good luck.

Wow, your son is living.... I can relate to him....
@barbsmart73733 ай бұрын
@@Tablahands I wouldn't want to learn anything at all from that man. It is instantly clear that he is addicted to traveling. It is often part of the age stage of discovering the world. I personally think he is behind in developing as an adult. There does not appear to be any deep relationships mentioned. No partner or children. I realise this mother has been influenced by his so-called freedom, but most mothers are always very sad if their kids only pop in once a year. Even more painful is not having grandchildren. A lof of mothers find a new daughter. My partner's mother and I were incredibly close. The South African man on this film emphasized very strongly that he wouldn't be a minimalist if he had a wife or children. In fact he said it would be irresponsible. I am never inspired by people who are self-focused, cruel, and basically havd trouble growing up. The man is also adding to significant environmental damage. A lot for just one person. I hope the mother finds other peopld in her life who can be a substitute son, a substitute daughter, and substitute grandchildren so she can love, teach, share, feel connected and be loved.
@barbsmart73733 ай бұрын
@@TablahandsI also hope this mother finds peace regarding her son who floats in and once a year. It seems he owns very little and has no deep relationships. If I met a man who was as immature and disconnected, addicted to seeing new things and had almost no time for his mother... I would run a mile. I wouldn't be interested jn someone sk hooked on personal pleasure. That's me. I guess he would need a different outlook if he was going to have a deep relationship.

This journey into minimalism highlights a profound relationship between joy and liberation from material possessions. It's inspiring to see how joy is equated with a carefree, almost childlike spirit, suggesting that true happiness often comes from within rather than from external acquisitions. Embracing a minimalist lifestyle not only declutters physical space but also clears the mind, allowing for a more joyful existence.

I lived a very minimalist lifestyle off grid in a tiny cabin in the woods. A few items of clothing, a few pots and utensils, some blankets for my sleeping pallet, a cooler for perishable food. I cooked on a fire and walked everywhere. I had a small subsistence garden. I hauled water, collected my own wood. I built a system for disposing of waste and between composting and combustible materials i for many years had no throw away trash. Everything had a purpose. Now i live in an apartment in a town with electricity, heat and running water. I have a car. I have things, possessions. Dvds, houseplants, this tablet computer. I do not have peace or privacy or serenity. I miss my life so much. Now i feel as if I'm just waiting, marking time, not living. I need to get back to my simplicity. Thank you for featuring this extraordinary man. He brings me back my forgotten joy. I will return to my real life one day i swear it.

I left my parents house over 50 years ago with no possessions (but my clothes) and lived for over 25 years that way. Now I live more traditional life yet with few possessions (as I love the creativity it takes to think of solutions instead of reach for tools.) But remember it as if it were yesterday. What I loved was the immediacy of life and watching the magic of manifesting my needs grow quicker, even without cheating with money. And that immediacy holding my ethics in line as well as my choices/karma saw results almost immediately. I never traded work for food and shelter like he did, I lived independent and migrated with the seasons living privately on public lands. And eating lots of blue green algae as it’s easy to carry and a healthy complete food. I can completely relate to the joy of this lifestyle and thank you for making this video.

I was depressed a lot during my 20''s. I was sensitive, and this is a rather harsh, absurd world. Spiritual teachers taught me where happiness is. It is within oneself. The wisdom of people who had truths "saved" me, and I am thankful that I was and am receptive to what they have to say. Vernon Howard's "The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power" and Paul Brunton's "The Secret Path" changed my life. And I live by Henry Miller's words: "The man who takes himself seriously is doomed". It is not easy being human, and the world is not yet civilized. But at 78, I find the journey interesting, more interesting all the time, and, in solitude in rural living, I find beauty in nature and joy in the companionship of animals. I'm self-employed and have been living off of scrap metal and property cleanouts for the majority of my income for the past 15 years. We see first hand the emptiness of material goods, squandered money and time, and irrational consumption patterns in both residential and commercial environments on a daily basis. Very often, things own people in our society.

What I didn't know at the time was that I would have to make this decision every single day - which is not always easy, not always successful… And these wonderful videos that you create and that you share with the world remind me that it is worth the effort, that the process of becoming a better human being is so challenging… but also so beautiful!!! ❤ Thank you Theo! To be grounded and contented is everybody's "birthright" that far too many of us have willingly abdicated. It is great to be reminded how simple it really is to get back "home." It takes a walk in the garden, the feel of the sun on your skin, the sound of a bird in the morning, the feel of the wind as it brushes agaist your skin and the shiver it sends down your spine. It takes what you have always had on hand.

This was a beautiful story. I grew up in a remote part of idaho and across the river from our cabin was a guy very much like this gentleman, his name was Dugout Dick. He made a series of caves in the mountain by the river and was self sufficient way before it was a thing..... Or way after. He grew his own vegetables, had goats for milk and meat plus there was an abundance of wildlife all around. Bald eagles cruzed the river, bighorn sheep roamed the mountain above his home and he existed harmoniously with it all. I really miss those days!

Wonderful and inspiring film! I recall the original film with Theo and was inspired by that as well, I will have to watch it again. I resonate with so much of this and over the years have also been gradually embracing a similar lifestyle of minimalism, voluntary simplicity, and volunteering for causes that I care about. After a stressful career in the insurance industry and facing tremendous burnout and medical issues from the stress I finally quit at ate 38. At 41, I am grateful for living a simple life where my wants and needs are few. I also have no dependents, no spouse, no partner, no kids, no pets, no debt. I still have a house that I plan to sell soon and move away from the city, moving should be simple now as I have sold and donated most of what I had. This year, last week, I turned 70 and my birthday present came a week later, finishing putting to music, photos of 11/2006 - 5/2008, visiting a culture where I grew up - but left at 17, returning 30 years later to help folks who landed in Cajun country after hurricanes Katrina & Rita, in that French speaking, dancing, musical world. I didn't put the devastation, in the photos, but the beauty. Every birthday I pull in a goal; this years is to follow my intuition. What i've noticed so far is the increases in synchronicity can only be described in Peter Mayer's song, Holy Now. Now back in New England sitting quietly on the Connecticut River ever since and intentionally eldering in deep gratitude. Thank you Justine & Michael and Andy for the music. With all that is happening and being controlled in the world in less than honorable ways, i identify with choosing to live as much as I can with sharing the good in humanity. Our "shared humanity," is more marvelous than anything else I might focus on at this stage of life.

Joy changes the bones on your face. It's true. I've seen it on some very precious souls. What Theo said reminded me to keep smiling and be happy from within and not depend on things to bring me happiness.

I always looked at the keys in my hand as my master. Now that I'm older I've shed stuff and keys. It's a much freer life. Theo is such a marvelous human and a powerful example of living life on your own terms! Thanks for sharing his story again!!

"I saw myself", "I'm already who I want to be" I felt that looking in the mirror while having a haircut a few weeks ago ... I'm very happy with who I am. God bless you Theo.
