Not really, no. Though the difficulty does get bumped up a level after you've conquered half of the territories.

It got DMCA'd actually. Because KZbin. The girl (Miko) inherited her father's taiko dojo after his passing which caused the once island-wide dojo to splinter into factions. She wants to reunite it back to its former glory but can't win any shrine battles (she lost 100 times). If she can't win the next one, her dojo will be closed down. the drum (Don-chan) gets teleported in at that moment, tags along for the next battle and helps her win by manning the taiko. Then he agrees to help her.
