I've seen these cats twice now and they are ridiculous in concert! I can't even explain. I've turned them on to a few people and they are all like "why are these guys not more popular"? I'm like shhhhh.....tix are only $15 or $20!

brian you hate jam bands WTF i can smell the hair gel from here
@brianmclaffin9 жыл бұрын
I have been listening to these guy's albums for a long time now and was excited to go see them in concert. But after listening to a couple of youtube videos and seeing how much 'Jam time' they put in between songs, I think I'm going to pass. Always hated jam bands.
@gtabakman9 жыл бұрын
Why? What is it about improvisation and watching a song be experimented with in a new way each time you see it live that bothers you?
@brianmclaffin9 жыл бұрын
I like different takes on songs, but at the point when the ratio of improv/structured music reaches equilibrium I lose interest. A 1 minute interlude, or slightly extended solo portion is fine with me, where as a 15 minute 'jam' is boring and honestly mostly only interesting to the musicians and stoners.
@RudellRealty9 жыл бұрын
Brian McLaughlin Interesting....I guess that may be why some folks don't like jam bands cuz they go off the grid....thats really what I like about music like this...go off and explore and bring that s$^t back in like you own it. Love it!
@gtabakman9 жыл бұрын
Brian McLaughlin I think that's a really poor stereotypical generalization about jam music that is made by people that don't really understand what they are talking about - if you find it boring, that's one thing, but you don't need to be stoned to find it interesting. I personally enjoy listening to a band find different grooves and connect on them and see where they go, and not be constrained by one musician soloing or the structure of the particular song. And I feel that way completely sober. To each their own, I guess.

Fair point. Greensky Bluegrass is an amazing band, and they certainly aren't your amateurs 'jamming' without direction. Their banjo player is one of my favorites out there.
