My mom passed away in March. She had always wanted to see Manheim Steamroller live. Finally, in 2018, we were able to take her to see you in Rosemont, Illinois. It was magical. She will always be my best friend and the most wonderful woman anyone ever met.

She is great! I loved hearing her sing that. It's May 14th, about as far from Christmas as you can get but it put me in the Christmas mood!

Absolutely beautiful voice! I spent a few minutes trying to find more sung by her but sadly no luck. Hopefully will get to listen to more material sung by her. Would love to see her do more arrangements by Chip/Mannheim. The Mannheim Steamroller albums have been a part of my family's Christmas tradition for as long as I can remember, and that voice would be a great addition.

I had never heard this song until listening to the "Mannheim Steamroller" channel for Christmas on SiriusXM this season (2018). I had not heard several of the Band's songs before this past few weeks. Fantastic! This and "Above The Northern Lights" are two new favorites after never hearing them before. We even have several of the CD's of Christmas and other New Age era music, always great music!

This is hauntingly beautiful. This is my favorite Christmas song and now this is my favorite rendition. If Elyse ever goes on tour again, please let us know! Here are the lyrics Elyse is singing: Alas, my love, you do me wrong, To cast me off discourteously. For I have loved you well and long, Delighting in your company. Your vows you've broken, like my heart, Oh, why did you so enrapture me? Now I remain in a world apart, But my heart remains in captivity. Greensleeves was all my joy Greensleeves was my delight, Greensleeves was my heart of gold, And who but my lady Greensleeves? Thou couldst desire no earthly thing, but still thou hadst it readily. Thy music still to play and sing; And yet thou wouldst not love me. Greensleeves was all my joy Greensleeves was my delight, Greensleeves was my heart of gold, And who but my lady Greensleeves? Ah, Greensleeves, now farewell, adieu, To God I pray to prosper you, For I am still thy lover true, Come once again and love me.

For a 500+ year old song by Henry VIII wrote she sure does it much justice singing it and the beat is awesome to hear since it was meant to be on a different instrument than any of these and drums especially! KUDOS to her and her hit!

Before Internet and youtube existed, 2 friends and me made a 7 week road trip in 1991 thru the U.S., Canada and Mexico. We are from Mannheim, Germany, home of the so called "Mannheimer Schule" of the 18th century, which created the "'Mannheim Roller", a music effect with crescendo parts. During our trip, we stayed on camp sites and national parks, met a lot of people and had interesting talks. Very often , people mentioned the band "Mannheim Steamroller" when they heard, that we are from Mannheim. We three had no idea, what they were really talking about. Now we know...awesome! Next saturday, my two friends and me, we have our 30th USA road trip reunion, where we will celebrate with a reading of our diary, BBQ and chicken speedies, lots of beer (cold filtered) and now for sure, an old fashioned slide show with projector, movie screen and the music of "Mannheim Steamroller".

This song has nothing at all to do with Christmas. Some think it was written by King Henry V111
@rayparris38856 жыл бұрын
Here is why so many people identify the melody to Christmas. It does have a link.... ....."What Child Is This?" is a Christmas carol whose lyrics were written by William Chatterton Dix, in 1865. ... While recovering, he underwent a spiritual renewal that led him to write several hymns, including lyrics to this carol that was subsequently set to the tune of "Greensleeves", a traditional English folk song.
