Proof that the tenoroon is, in fact, a viable and composition-worthy instrument if in the right hands.

This could be a very fine chamber music instrument. Imagine it in an ensemble with alto flute, bassett horn, contra-alto clarinet and phps a few strings and or piano It doesn't cut like the english horn does.

Honestly, I could see this Fg5+ configuration of the Tenoroon being a decent substitute to the Heckelphone in Strauss's Salome in case the latter isn't available for the occasion. The timbre isn't that far off.

I put off listening to this because I've never heard of the tenoroon, I just really like Greensleeves, but I regret putting it off because this sounds *gorgeous*

I hear a very high E6 note at the end. Are you doing some sort of altissimo, or is that just an overtone in the sound?
@Subcontrabassoon Жыл бұрын
It has to be an overtone; the highest note I can play on mine is C6 (as can be heard at the end of our We Wish You a Merry Christmas video).

Is the tenoroon the same as the fagottino? The former is in F and the latter is in G, correct? Do they sound different?
@Subcontrabassoon5 ай бұрын
“Tenoroon” and “fagottino” are synonyms. Both terms describe small bassoons pitched either a fourth or fifth above the bassoon. There’s no consistent tone for these instruments, because they’re not intended to be played at a professional level, but rather as learning aids for children too small to manage a bassoon. They generally use regular bassoon reeds, which distorts the tone and limits the range. I modified mine to use custom appropriately-scaled reeds. This gives it a slightly different tone, and a full 3.5 octave range

What key is this instrument in?

I have the version built a fifth higher than bassoon.
