It's funny how they came running until they saw you, then they came over like, oh there's Gregg, let's go see what he's eating.

Thanks for the video! The warm season natives are awesome! Some of our property have different grazing rotations . So far this year, part of it has been grazed once. Whereas others have been grazed 3 times. We will start our fourth rotation on some of the property in a week or 2. It will be awesome when you get all those water points. I need more water points on the backside of our property.

Greg you mention minerals are expensive, but look at the outcome from your inputs? It seems to me if anyone wants to build healthy soil for their animals and get peak performance from the land and forage they must spend a little money. The animals know what they are missing and choose what they need and as you mentioned the herd poops out 80-85% of the mineral back onto the land. In the long run it's a win-win situation the cattle are happy and so are you. By the way I love hearing the cattle eat so peacefully no balling just rip, rip, rip...

August 4th is Owl Appreciation Day. Consider installing an Owl nest box on your property. Owls eat rodents which host ticks. Barn Owls, Northern Saw-Whet Owls and Screech Owls are all cavity nesters. There are not enough quality nesting cavities for these useful birds. Help put pressure on rodent populations with artificial nesting cavities for Owls.

If row croppers could take a sabbatical field, seed it with a grass/forbes/legumes mixture like you have now, run cattle on it for a year with managed grazing and a free-choice mineral feeder, wouldn’t that improve the mineral content of a field much more than just a cover crop?
@gregjudyregenerativerancher2 ай бұрын
Yes it would.

Good insight for water tank location. On the older farms has the consumption of FCM gone down when a served per head unit of cattle?
@gregjudyregenerativerancher2 ай бұрын
Yes they have been dramatically reduced , around 70%

@@gregjudyregenerativerancher Thanks Greg. Almost ordered some last Fall. Just hadn’t worked out the logistics of going to BETO Junction, ( intersection of Hwy 75 and I45) Kansas and meeting a shipment at a truck stop, offloading to my pickup using my “Armstrong “ muscle power. May have to seriously revisit that option.

Greg ,instead of bushhoging, do you ever prescribe burn pasture for brush and weed control. What is your opinion on prescribed burning pasture and woodlands.
