I've read somewhere Brandon Jay McLaren was reached to play again as the SPD Red Ranger right before leaving SPD within the story continuity, however since he was dating Emma Lahanna (Dino Thunder's Kira) and they broke up, he declined to reprise the role since Emma was set to appear on that episode too. Then they reached Chris, however, he was unavailable at the time hence they opted to reach Matt Austin to play Bridge as the new SPD Red Ranger and promote Sky as the new SPD Commander (possibly as the new Shadow Ranger too).

Edinam Bradley It's because Disney at that time decided to cut the season to at least 32 episodes, instead of 38 episodes. And, they couldn't even afford to have the SPD cast reprise their roles for a possible team-up since.... A) The events of SPD after the series finale has already been wrapped up, except for a possiblity that Emperor Grumm, Mora, Broodwing, and the former SPD A-Squad Rangers might actually escape to get their revenge on the SPD B-Squad Rangers. B) the team-up between SPD and Mystic Force wouldn't fit well into the actual "plot" of that series since Mystic Force is supposedly based on magic and mysticism and having a previous Power Rangers series that is set in the year, 2025 which uses futuristic science and technology to investigate criminal cases crossing paths with a current Power Rangers series set in the present time period which heavily uses organic items and materials to practice magic and learning new spells, while living in a town that's based on logic and facts just wouldn't work. & C) Disney at that point just started not to give a damn about the franchise after SPD. That's about it.

Edinam Bradley True, true. *sigh!* Oh well, at least their respective Sentai counterparts, Magiranger and Dekaranger had a legit crossover. But, all we can do now as Power Rangers fan is just dream. Or at least come up with a fan-fiction story of all the possible Power Rangers team-ups that never came to be in our own ways. Or, perhaps wait and here that their might be a Power Rangers cinematic universe in the works. But, that's just me talking.

Edinam Bradley spd was foreshadowed in mystic force with piggy showing up in mystic force saying that in 20 years, aliens will be coming to earth to live in peace and he will win the lottery and own a restaurant called Piggy's. spd happens 50 years in the future after mystic force.
