That Watkins Glen 2011 finish always irked me. To fact-check Greg, David Ragan didn't flip, but he was turned into the guardrail and hit hard enough to bend the wall, slamming into David Reutimann and Reutimann flipped over and slammed the guardrail again, while Ragan hit the wall 2 or 3 more times just about as hard as the first impact and collecting a few more cars. What bothered me is that they took really hard hits, a car flipped, and they all landed in the middle of the track, NASCAR doesn't throw the yellow. Tony Stewart gets a little sideways in the bus stop and spins OFF the track, but NASCAR throws the yellow for that. And I grew up a Stewart fan, so I'm not bagging on NASCAR for waiting on someone "more prominent" to spin or something, I'm mad that a horrific crash happened well beforehand and they didn't throw the yellow until some harmless little nothing happened 10 seconds after. And don't give me that "oh that was behind the leaders they were out of the way" crap because at that point the safety of the drivers involved in that wreck should've been the top priority (thankfully they were all okay but still)
@DC3222 жыл бұрын
David Reutimann I think flipped over.
@howabouthetruth21572 жыл бұрын
@@DC322 That's what the man said, for crying out loud.
@DWestheim2 жыл бұрын
It's the final lap and the leaders are not going to come back to the wreck at speed, and there's no fire, so that gives NASCAR some leeway there, so I like to imagine they waited it out whether the window net came down or nah; these days, I think the yellow would come out a little sooner on that wicked wreck. (In the event, Reutimann still climbed out of the car before safety workers arrived...)
@vx__scrappy__xv54492 жыл бұрын
I mean Tony Stewart's wreck was in the field, and the turn 2 incident wasn't NASCAR was going to throw the yellow but waited to see if Keselowski had a run on Ambrose. Coming out of the last turn they would've thrown the caution. Regardless if you watch the footage, responders were in action in turn 3 before the yellow was out anyway. That's a good indicator they were going to throw the caution.

Buescher is great driver and it's great to see him get a legit win but Newman pretty consistently outperformed him. I can't help but feel Newman got the short end of the stick when Keselowski joined Roush. I think people forget how good he was (and still is) back in the day.

Only thing I would think of to make this better would be to have a bunch of drivers that had beef with each other in the past in the studio at the same time and rehashing all of ther issues perhaps it would be a pay per view type of event but could also be comedic as to how much time has passed and as to how many have already talked things out...perhaps ot would give us all the real reasons that started some of the conflicts and confusion in the first place.
