Gorgeous Greg, just gorgeous. It's so cool when having to "move cattle" amounts to actually leading the cattle instead of driving them. I have so much fun basically asking my cows to come to me where I want them to go rather than having to try to forcibly push them. They're so easy to work with, rather than against them like some of my family has for years. I set up a new paddock, open the gate and holler "Here girls" and here they come at a run....it's just so awesome.

Haha, grass heaven! I can't remember if I told you we got a new place or not. It's not big, and half woods, but enough to run a few cows maybe. Got a milk cow (I like milking) and a few local hair sheep to start managing the grass. I hope to build that little flock of hair sheep to help us buy some south polls in the future and find a lease in the area. It may take us a while, but I look forward to building it all up slowly!😊

Some beautiful animals there, Greg. Amazing how one man and a 4 wheeler can lead 300,000 plus pounds of cattle! Your interns seem to really love what they do, just like you. Peace, you guys

Your pastures look great, as always. Thanks for the continued education! We’ve been lucky with rain in middle GA too. That and the new polybraid we put up in the spring have our pastures looking better than I can remember.

I wish more people did this type of farming in Ireland. I'm not even a farmer but I get saddened by looking at these fields along the road with way to short grass and cows or sheep board and grazing.

Such a wonderful operation. In my area there are large Angus farms on small acreage, eating down to the dirt and round bales 12 months a year, also messy sloppy mud. Kinda sad.

There's also a lot of that in non-industrial traditional cattle raising in Europe. When you see a team of oxen pulling a plow on a muddy field or a totally dead dry field. So many people see the traditional breeds eating the grass to the bare ground, worse than a golf course and they ooh and aaah with "so beautiful so traditional". The cattle growers themselves know nothing else.

Hey Greg, Just a thought, you might not need it, but the night before, you could put up a sign-especially for short-cutters, must be in a hurry-that says, "Cattle Planned On Road Tomorrow, From 10 a.m. To Noon," or whatever.

Hi Greg. It's nice to see your cattle on there pastures . I've searched one of your videos in which you mention to not keep a cow that doesn't loose it's winter coat when summer comes. Do you have a clip that goes into this in more detail.( Thanks John c. UK)

Good morning. Love the videos. What is your answer to overgrown pasture in August. We have a section of the farm that we could not get to because of incomplete fence and I am just grazing it for the first time now. It is in excess of 3 feet tall and has seed heads and I am passing sheep over it quickly (I have more grass than animals right now-35 Illinois acres with 60 sheep). I’m inclined to clip it but I don’t want to mess up my winter stock pile. What percentage of your total grazed acre should be winter stockpiled?

What's the farthest away from a public road you can be among all the tracts of land you work? Is there any place you can be where it's, say, a mile away from a public road? Been wanting to ask that, given your description of the road at the beginning of the video, seemed as good a place as any to ask. Thanks in advance!

That one cow running out in front of you reminded me of a Democrat crossing the road. They run out to block you, but then they slow down and saunter in front of you not a care, not a hurry. That one cow ran into the path you were driving, then slowed down to a walk.

4 pounds per day of gaining....just on grass?....i dont think so
@gregjudyregenerativerancher4 жыл бұрын
In the spring coming out of winter, the compensatory gain is over 4 lbs a day on good forage. The key is to make sure they have access to all the plant tips that they can eat each day with twice daily moves.
