Greg details his stump painting set-up to prevent invasive trees from sprouting. This method of treating freshly cut stumps is very effective. You must treat the stump within 3 hours of cutting the tree or it will re-sprout.

Thanks for the video! The grass still looks good there. I need to cut some shrubs down too. The biggest problem in my pasture are box elder trees. I know if you really tighten the animals down they take care of them but the pasture will be a beaten though too. I bet the population of those stupid trees is 10000/acre. At least most are less than 5 feet and animals will eat the leaves off.

Really enjoy your videos Greg, thanks for your dedication. I would encourage everyone, even if you have been to other grazing schools… go to the one Greg puts on, it makes a huge difference to attend a workshop put on by someone who actually grazes day in and day out. Practical knowledge, you can’t get that everywhere.

8:13 why to save Mulberry trees: They can take grazing pressure. Survive being blown over. Good for cattle to rub winter coat off. Highly nutritious leaves for grazing once the tree is large enough. Cedar trees also useful for cattle comfort on hot days. Shade and rubbing spots.

I enjoy finding spiderwort, violets, sweet William and more on our place. We did some clearing in the woods for pasture.

Good thing you videoed the gloves - she now knows to replace your gloves. You should have several spare for when you and the young men wear through them. They aren't super expensive, and they are good for safety.

Hi Greg. Wondering why you paint the stumps and don't just spray them with a spray bottle. Thanks!

Doesn’t kill the stump as well as painting them with a brush. I’m not into doing things twice. Do it once and be done with it.,

If you leave those roads alone, nature will bring the grass back. Of course, the road base has a value. It would interesting to leave some of it and watch how long it takes for the grass to take it over.

Your right, about 70% of the roads will grow up in grass, but there are some areas where the rock is 2 feet deep!

Greg, I am in WV… is it too late in the spring to treat our autumn olive trees? Should I do it in late winter, early spring or does it matter? Thank you

So how do the sheep fit in, or it doesn't matter for cleaning the pasture up. Do they go after small brush before it is established plus weaken some of the established?
@gregjudyregenerativerancher
@gregjudyregenerativerancher Ай бұрын
Sheep are broadleaf eaters. They will eat grass, but prefer weeds, bushes and woody sprouts.

Mr. Judy. Ive already lost control of my grass. My Fescue is going to seed. Would you recommend clipping behind my cattle for the next few weeks?
@gregjudyregenerativerancher
@gregjudyregenerativerancher Ай бұрын
It is always a risk with clipping. Yes if your going to clip, do it behind the cows as you move them. If it doesn’t rain and you clip, then your plants may not grow back very well. But if it does rain and you clip, then you will have some very palatable tender forage for your herd on your next rotation.

Dear Greg, your camera apparently has an HDR setting. I don't seek to critique your operation whatsoever, but that HDR setting is poorly suited for the type of video production you're doing. If you turn the HDR off the motion and brightness levels will be better calibrated for us. Thank you for the outstanding content! I'm dealing with invasive trees right now.
