They had just finished playing 226 concerts that year. Crazy! Please listen to their studio version of this. “Closer to Believing “ from Works Volume 1 was extraordinary. It took them 17 weeks to produce

So many memories of him playing with Keith on keyboards, and Carl on drums. Three men that will live in history for their chemistry (aka genius).

Greg Lake was a powerful player on both guitar and bass. He was never flashy like many other guitarists, but he was skilled and a beautiful singer and was part of why, among other things, King Crimson had such a great debut album, In the Court of the Crimson King. From Emerson, Lake & Palmer, "Tarkus" is considered one of the great long-form progressive rock songs (along with the three impressions of "Karn Evil 9"). I'm so glad you're checking out these great progressive rock icons!

ELP was one of the first PROG Bands that made the charts. Many many deep cuts, some made it to regular radio play but their best music was not heard on the radio.

We were fortunate in Cleveland to have a couple of prog rock FM stations that had been picking up listeners in the late 60s/early 70s, so we heard even entire live ELP concerts.

C’est la vie is probably one of his better songs that I think you will appreciate if you haven’t reacted to it already. Thanks for the great reactions as always!

Genesis had three 12-string players playing at once in some of their early music, especially before Steve Hackett replaced Anthony Phillips. Phillips has produced huge amounts of music since using (largely)12-string and piano.
