Congratulations Obidee. Amazing. Great video. Oh……the swing and multiple misses…I laughed so hard!!!! Been there so many times!!!!!! I think because if the wind, what you feel is the little monster spitting it out. The worst part to accept is that the freak had it for some time and you didn’t know it.

Much respect for continuing to grind on an unusually tough delta and keeping that PMA. I might have tried switching to a more compact trailer like a dbl tail grub. Something with less behind the hook for them to grab. 🤷♂️ Thanks for keeping the content coming, what a strange year!

Congrats to O,Greg it was tough but just food for thought , when bass feed on craws they always attack the pinchers first to knock them off. Then they eat them. The larger bass have no problem eating the whole crawdad pinchers and all. But the smaller bass have to knock the pinchers off first. This seemed to be what was happening to you. Loved the video and thank you. I'm sure you will do great this year.

Man it is hard to fish a jig in high winds. Two things I have learned the hard way is to fish a swimjig in the wind and if things are not going well in a derby I have a tendency to fish stuff too fast, like a jig. That mental toughness you mentioned MEANS SLOW DOWN. Tough derb Gregg. You will bounce back in the next one 👊😎

Greg you cant fish for yesterday's fish. You did well to not get flipped. One thing about Crayfish, when i was quite young, about 1974, we used small live Crayfish for bait. We found that removing the two pincers made the fish more inclined to bite it!
@brucemckinnley5272 Жыл бұрын
I can sympathize with you....won a Classic Tournament in an area, where everyone else struggled. Went back there a month later for Nationals, got a limit on day 1, tried to stay afloat in 6ft waves on day 2, quit before we sank the boat....live to fish another day. Always enjoy your videos man. I'm kinda shocked that your not throwing a vibrating jig through that flooded grass even after your getting bites. If they are biting in flooded grass then that vjig in black and blue is where its at. I took 6th at the delta and always done good when the flooded grass Bite is on. The reason your missing so many bites is because the wind makes it where they can't hear or see your jig very well. I guess we can't think of everything when we are in the moment. A bladed jig is deadly on the delta.
@GregBlanchardFishing Жыл бұрын
Thanks Will. tough to show the full day in a short video but threw a vibrating jig and spinnerbait a decent amount especially with that wind, just no takers.

Sheesh, after watching this i'm definitely sticking to the 15/15 rule! Quick question Greg, when fishing tournaments is your default strategy to catch a limit first or to fish for tournament winning fish all day knowing you may get fewer bites? I never know which way to go.
@GregBlanchardFishing Жыл бұрын
wind/gusts over that are no joke! Great question. Depends on how the bite is and really what I anticipate to win. I figured it would be mid eighties and with some history in the back pocket plus the prefish getting on those jig fish I was ready to throw a jig all day for 5-8 bites but figured if I landed the majority of them I could be sitting pretty good.
@EvanMorsell Жыл бұрын
@@GregBlanchardFishing we had 12mph winds with 29mph wind gusts earlier this month on the Potomac...a few guys flipped. This is my first year fishing kayak tournaments for a full season so working out tournament strategies has been a challenge. I appreciate your advice and sharing your journey!
