I've had a beard for many years. I'm also bald. Your videos are always an inspiration and I watch every trim video. I have learnt a lot from the videos as I don't go to a barber either. I love your v-shape video as well as your quick and easy berad trim (no. 8 over the whole beard against the grain). A big thank you

In an old short beard tutorial, you'd do a 7mm on the sides and underneath and a 4mm at the back, blending into the 7mm but here you just stuck with the 9mm all over (aside from the moustache obviously). If I recall, I think you did the tapering because the sides would puff out more as it grows longer. Do you find that tapering doesn't make much of a difference if you're not planning to grow it out longer and the 9mm all over works out ok?
@GregBoswell428Ай бұрын
I think you might be referring to the video where I used a #7 guard, which is actually 21 or 22mm. That’s a great length, too. I’ll be revisiting that length eventually.

Great video, Can I ask why you go with the grain, does that not take as much off compared to against the grain I assume? I have a beard trimmer that has 0.5mm setting from 0.5mm to 28mm, which is really helpful for different shorter beards. I do the same for my sideburns, I also buzz my head hair. My tip is I wouldn't freehand the sideburns to the main beard, I would simply use a setting a little lower than the main beard in your example you used a 9mm guard, I would use say a 6mm at the top of the cheek area to the side burns, you did find but for others who are new that is my tip! Also, I use scissors on the bottom of my 'tash' area, I am not brave enough to use the trimmer there!
@GregBoswell428Ай бұрын
@@justinengland9814 sometimes I’ll use scissors also on the mustache, also. Occasionally, it just works better. I trim with the grain on this length because the hair lays differently. Going against the grain will actually make it shorter and is actually damaging to the hair shaft. You should see it under a microscope. My only exception to this is when I trim my beard really close to the face.

@chrisfranco6603Ай бұрын
@@GregBoswell428based on my hair growth. I’m pretty hairy…10 days is almost exactly a 7mm guard shaving down (with the grain). I just did it and the 7mm down stroke was just nicking my beard length. So…for me…7mm down stroke is 10 days. FYI.

You need to pull the skin tighter if you wanna get a sharper line. If you don’t want to use a straight razor, then get one with a fifth blade on it on the back and go down towards it.
