I played a gig in St. Augustine Florida with a guitar player named Johnny King who recorded the last album Buddy Miles ever played all the drums and did all the lead vocals on. On this gig was the kindest gentleman playing trumpet named Dennis Marion. That's Dennis right there playing in Gregg's band. A month later I bumped right into Gregg Allman and his fiance Shannon at an outdoor Cafe in St. Augustine. I said " Hello Greggory " to which he gave me a look of astonishment. I told him I'd played with the boys in Sea Level and then I told him I had just done a gig with his new trumpet player. We ended up having a real nice heart to heart chat with Gregg ending up begging me to buy one of his 6 B-3's. If I had only had the money it might of opened up a door for me. That was in September 2015. It wasn't too much longer before he sadly left us. But I tell Y'all that was one of the most meaningful moments in my life and I've worked with the biggest names in Hollywood and the jazz-rock world. Gregg Allman felt like a blood brother I'd been waiting all my life to reunite with and God finally brought us together. Rest in heavenly peace Gregg.
