Gravel ,honey, ,salt water..train whistles, red clay mud ,raw organic talent, and heartache.. are the ingredients that come to my mind when I hear Gregg sing ..I can sense a sadness a longing a homesickness for his brother Duane and a father he has no recollection of ...he states in this interview he loved his brother and he still does...today they are jamming together somewhere I'm sure ..we kept him for 69 years one year short of 70 ..it seems to me our Gregory Allman felt he was a day late and a dollar short more than once ..but we know better ..don't we ? ..From losing his dad, his brother ,his bass player ..and his sobriety ,his mind he probably felt at times..but he never lost his love for the music ,his fans , ..and most of all his brother ...May he forever fly ..💙✌🍄🍑🎶🌠🌠..

Wow... hearing his voice again, his speaking voice, brought SO many memories rushing back... what a true Southern Gentleman. Soft spoken, so witty, SMART AND FUNNY, creative, endearingly sweet, and kind. Raw emotionally, his writing cathartic and REAL. One of the most UNDER APPRECIATED creative forces of nature...his humility played into it, unfortunately... Coming back here to Muscle Shoals to record his last album, so bittersweet. Bookending the ABB legacy. Gregory, sometimes I can feel you, still...

When I got married in the 80's my new husband and I danced our first dance, as man and wife, at the reception, to Blue Sky. A few years later when our daughter was born I held her tightly, lovingly, and danced to the same song. Thank you, Allman Brothers. Thanks.

Thanks for posting. Read your intro. I can tell you are a fan. I have been since 1977, I was nine, my parents had a copy of Win Lose or Draw. I was hooked, mezmirized, stunned, awe struck, got chills, got scared, cried, felt happy, AND they still do that to me today. These guys are living proof The Creator shows Himself in humans and that He really, really, likes, tasteful, music.

Gregg Allman, simply the best ever. Totally original…. I was 15 years old riding a Greyhound bus across the USA in the summer with three other friends exploring the USA on summer break…..and we had one cassette tape, the Allman Brothers live at Fillmore. This year marks the 50th year since our summer trip and I was fortunate off to see the Allman Bros 16 times live in concert…1973 first time at Watkins Glen with 600,000+ people and the last two times back to back nights in 2015 in San Diego at the Belly Up Tavern. 50 year is my favorite musician and also a man who was a really nice person and good guy. His music is so “one-of-a-kind,“ that for people like me nothing else comes close…. It’s been the joy of my musical life being able to listen to Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers Band

For all you people in the comments section yapping off about how messed-up Gregg is in this interview I only have 1 question? Havn't any of you ever heard him speak before? He is from the South. He has always spoken with the same slow southern drawl. If you think I'm full of shit listen to his interview from 2012 with Howard Stern. Exact same slow speaking style. And by that time he had been sober for years and had had a liver transplant

He sounds totally normal to me. Pretty much every man I grew up with here in Georgia sounds just like this. Southerners usually drop off the end of each word, they mumble often. We basically use our lower jaw more and not much of our upper lip.

Don't blame it all on him. Southern men don't like coming home and seeing their wife naked with 12 people around trying on her ridiculous outfits. And she KNEW before she married him, that he used.

For anyone who hasn't read my comments on this inteview, I SAVED this thing. I got it on a cdr and put it back to tape and slowed the pitch down. It played chipmunk fast. I restored the speed and I vined. The vine went some 8 or more pages. I really put it back out there. As far as the interview goes, yeah Gregg sounded like a guy with drug dementia. He was in his own special mind set for this interview. I guess that is what drugs can do to you, just turn your mind into jello. I know I've been drinking too much lately. I'll get up and I'll have a little vertigo and my head feels like it's on crooked. Just imagine being on heroin, cocaine, pot and and all the new shit that is out there, crack-- which is not new, or meth. So many ways to alter your mind. And don't forget dropping acid. Just ask Syd Barret of Pink Floyd and Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac about acid.

I personally don't like how the interviewer kept talking about Duane. I love Duane, but to me he and Gregg were equally talented. You should focus on the subject of your interview, not other people. Like it's one thing to ask things like "What's your favorite memory of your brother" or something like that, but it's another to go on and on about him. I don't know, but I imagine Gregg must've gotten tired of the same questions over and over again. I feel bad for Gregg and Cher. I think they genuinely cared about each other, and Cher herself even said that he was a good husband.(Better than Sonny even) Gregg's drug addictions were too much to handle.

Fun fact: During his time with Cher, my husband and our best friend partied with Gregg and a chick that was not his wife in Daytona Beach Florida at the condo of the Native Tan founder. Gregg was pretty fucked up but he wasn’t snorting or boozing. Turns out he had a trunkful of cough medicine containing a powerful narcotic. He didn’t share but everyone else was smoking cocaine base so they didn’t care. He had fun as did everyone else. 🥰

As typical, the narrator, Elliott Mintz, presents some falsehoods. Why can’t they get facts correct. Of course I’m not sure that Gregg is getting a few things correct either. I had heard that Duane looked like nothing had happened to him, Gregg says here that there was rebar on the flat bed truck and it impaled him. That’s a new one! And Gregg says he wasn’t called until 8:30 the next morning! Don’t think that was correct! Even I knew at 10:00 pm the day of the accident. All in all, Gregg was a smart guy and comes across that way.

Cher was worried about too much too soon? This woman has screwed anything that moves all her life. More likely she didn't have any idea how to react to a real Southern Gentleman.

No, fool, if you actually read his book he says that his addictions ruined their marriage. She was very concerned for his well-being, and simply couldn't take it anymore. And no, as far as I know she didn't screw anything that moved, as far as I know they were pretty loyal to each other during their marriage. And not for nothing, the man slept around quite a bit himself.
