When you sign an NDA in this context, (i) there is unequal 'bargaining power' between the parties (terminology used in contract law) and (ii) you are agreeing to act in confidence regarding the subject of the contract (a book); you are not anticipating that you may be the subject of sexual harassment, and that the NDA will be used to gag you from speaking about it. I trust this addresses Roger's total ignorance.
