The Dogs Of The Week was my favourite portion of Sneak Previews. Film critics Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel review their picks of the week's worst movies. I preferred their original movie review program on PBS over the mainstream version called Siskel, Ebert and The Movies because they spent more time showing movie scenes, talked about the movies without editing and commercial interruptions, and were more informative on movies they would recommend or not. Some of the stinkers they panned went on to become cult classics for certain viewers.

Poor Linda Blair. After 1973’s phenomenal “The Exorcist” she never really made another great film. “Hell Night” was depressing to see that her career just never got better. She actually was a fine actress at the start of her career but it ended with a series of terrible films.
@Campbellzilla4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes with actors (especially women) their breakout hit ends up coloring the remainder of their career. Same thing happened with Sharon Stone after Basic Instinct, she tried to play against type with The Quick and The Dead, but her work in stuff like Basic Instinct, The Specialist, Sliver, and Diabolique ended up damaging her credibility as an actress.
@ReverendBenzo4 жыл бұрын

@@tentcater4710 Dude. The proof is in their filmography. Sharron Stone after headlining B-level schlock got a mainstream breakout with Basic Instinct and the infamous leg crossing scene colored her career. Jamie Lee Curtis was colloquially known as "Scream Queen". You can disagree with me, but calling my opinion propaganda is ridiculous. What exactly am I "propagandizing" by saying female actors have a tendency to fall into typecasting from breakout hits?

"Hollywood High Part 2"-Just another cheap "American Graffiti" ripoff. "Chu Chu and the Philly Flash" has to be one of the worst titles ever. "The Kinky Coaches and the Pom Pom Pussycats"-Try selling that title for a Saturday morning cartoon. "A Hard Way to Die"-I must say they do think up some stupid titles for Kung-fu movies. "Fantasies"-Always cashing in on an actresses naked body. "Hell Night" was one of the better B-movies that Linda Blair made. "Fear No Evil" was actually a pretty good low budget movie. "MS 45" was directed by Abel Ferrara. Both critics will praise a number of his movies later over the years. "Lovers and Liars"-Yeah, if it wasn't for Goldie Hawn's success, this movie would have been shelved for good. "Haunts"-What an original sounding title. "The 7 Grand Masters"-Well it does have a cool title. "Adios Amigo" was made in 1975, at that time, Richard Pryor was on "Stanford and Son", one of the most popular sitcoms of the 70's.

@xdmaster78884 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? Gene didn't like gory movies, so your violence mention is not totally off-base (but he liked a LOT of violent films that were well-made), but the rest don't reflect reality. And if Gene hated sex and aggressive women, why did he often espouse quality erotic films like EMMANUELLE and take point on the (in)famous "Women in Danger" episode? You didn't do your homework here.
