Make sure as a driver you always have some basic tools with you and befriend as many Mobile diesel mechanic’s as you can. The more you know about how the truck you are operating functions, the better driver you’ll be directly securing your future. Being able to adjust your own brakes in doing a walk around that shouldn’t take more than 5 to 10 minutes before and after your shift is some thing I was taught to do at a young age and can gladly say that I retired from the industry putting in almost 40 years.

Why some airbrakes trucks failed to stop...and they say that they lose air? It means they don't use airbrake that stop when losing air pressure? Or they just only use service brake only without emergency brake?

No, it is not. However, this question is somewhat dependent on the specific brake pots that you have in service. For example, the Haldex Life Seal product is a sealed unit with no plug so the likelihood of contaminants corroding the spring or the spring cage are incredibly low. This is why the product has a 8 year service life warranty. You may get even more years out of the product but Haldex provides this guarantee based on the quality design of the product. The Gold Seal product by Haldex has a 4 year service life warranty. So, unless you experiencing issues with the brake system, you do not need to replace every 3 years.
